Valentin Pavlov makes a report at the International Forum II “Russian-Chinese Biomedical Cooperation”

14 November, the Second International Forum “Russian-Chinese Biomedical Cooperation” opens in St. Petersburg, passing the initiative “Belt and Road Initiative”. More than 40 companies from Chinese People's Republic and more than 30 Russian universities and research institutions take part in the meeting. During three days academics, university heads, chief physicians of medical institutions, directors of scientific centers, researchers and developers – more than 200 people –discuss actual problems of biomedical technologies development in St. Petersburg Technical University. The first forum was successfully held in China in June 2017.

Within the “Bioengineering and Translational Medicine” break-out sessions Valentin Pavlov, the Head of BSMU and the corresponding member of the Russian Academy of Sciences, makes the presentation about the possibility of the Russian-Chinese Innovative University Centre project in Bashkir State Medical University. The chief project partner on the Chinese part is Harbin Medical University in the person of its President, Yan Baofen, Professor and a Nobel nominee. They explore the opportunities for attracting of the Chinese investment in the project. The project includes the Translational Medicine Center, Biopharmacology Technology Center and campus. The Center specialists’ preparation is currently under way; eighteen BSMU postgraduates are being trained through the double diploma programme and conduct their research in different areas.

Bashkir State Medical University is included in the Russian-Chinese Medical Universities Association (2014), Russian-Chinese University Alliance of the Volga Federal District Republic of Bashkortostan and the Upper and Middle Reaches of the Yangtze River, China (2016). Bashkir State Medical University and Harbin Medical University have established close relationships in different areas during three years of partnership under the Russian-Chinese Medical Universities Association.
