Professor Wieland gave start to the BSMU Anniversary Week

Bashkir State Medical University Anniversary Week has started with the lecture of Wolf Ferdinand Wieland, Professor of the Urology Department in Regensburg University, Germany. The professor presented “Access to the Kidney” and “Emergencies in Urology” reports. The first report was devoted to the new kind of operations on kidney – laparoscopy. The professor approves the advantages of these operations as possibility of partial kidney cut off, less cardiovascular problems, more chance to live longer and productively and, no doubt, less pain to patients. But in such difficult cases as kidney cancer only open operations are possible. In the next report Professor Wolf Ferdinand Wieland discussed emergencies in urology which every single doctor must know about. There are some diseases that are more often happen to people and can be diagnosed with the help of anamnesis, clinical examination and practical analyses. The professor presents some frequent urology cases to the students and academic staff such as acute cystitis, pyelonephritis, urinary retention and renal colic. The professor explained the way to examine the patients and what medicine to give to relief the pain and what operations are necessary in advanced cases.
