Philosophy

History of the Department of Philosophy

In 1932, shortly after the creation of the Bashkir State Medical University, the Department of Marxist-Leninist Philosophy was formed. Her initial assignment was educational, scientific, and educational work among students, centered around the study of Marxist-Leninist philosophy, which was the official worldview of the time. Despite the ideological super-task, lectures and seminars on philosophy were sometimes the only way to familiarize medical students with humanitarian and socio-economic knowledge.

In 1933, the teaching of political economy was introduced in the department. In the same year, the department was renamed the Department of Social and Political Sciences. Later, from 1948 to 1969, it became known as the Department of Marxism-Leninism.

Heads of the department:

Associate Professor G.I. Maslennikov (1932-1948),

Associate Professor A.A. Ushakov (1948-1967).

In 1967, the Department of Marxism-Leninism was divided into the Department of CPSU History and Political Economy and the Department of Philosophy and Scientific Communism.

The Department of CPSU History and Political Economy was headed by:

Associate Professor N.Sh. Khusainov (1968-1969),

Associate Professor G.Kh. Valeev (1969-1973),

Associate Professor Lahmost BS (1973-1985),

Associate Professor N.P. Korotkov (1973-1985).

From 1967 to 1970, Associate Professor K.G. Wafina headed the Department of Philosophy and Scientific Communism.

From January 1971 the department was headed by Associate Professor G.S. Ismagilov.

From 1983 to 2017, the department was headed by Doctor of Philosophy, Professor D.M. Azamatov.

In 1992, the department combined into one department - the department of philosophy with the course of history and the foundations of economics. Since 2011, the department became known as the Department of Philosophy and Humanities and Social Sciences, and since 2017 - the Department of Philosophy.

Since 2018, the department is headed by Doctor of Philosophy, Professor Ivanova Oksana Mikhailovna.

Active professional growth and creative search for teachers of the department coincided with the years of social and political changes throughout the country. In the second half of the 80s - the beginning of the 90s of the XX century, the department radically modernizes the courses being read.

One of the first our department introduced elective courses.

Transformations in the country, the collapse of the communist ideology, the formation of a more complex and contradictory, than before, the spiritual state of society led to radical changes in higher education. The transition to a market economy, the adoption of democratic principles for the organization of society posed an urgent problem - training not only a highly specialized doctor, but, above all, a specialist who is aware of the most important trends in modern life. Medical activity became impossible without a broad scientific and philosophical horizon, without awareness of the new political, ideological, legal, social and other realities of modern society.

The Department of Philosophy enthusiastically embraced the ideas of humanization of higher education and put a lot of effort into implementing them within the university. In the course of philosophy, in the mid-80s, ideas and concepts of Western and Russian non-Marxist philosophers gradually began to be introduced.

The Department of Philosophy and Social and Humanitarian Disciplines of the Bashkir State Medical University is a center for training philosophical personnel known in the Republic of Bashkortostan. The department has a postgraduate degree in social philosophy. Since 1996, five doctoral and 45 master's theses have been defended at the department. Published 27 monographs and more than thirty educational and teaching aids.

No student conference can do without the participation of our department. Over the past period, collections of abstracts of papers and speeches to the scientific and practical conferences “Actual issues of social development, education and training” (five collections) and “Social and philosophical problems of modern medicine and health” (four collections), as well as an updated intercollegiate collection "Person.
