Foreign Languages with the Course of Latin

The Chair of Foreign Languages with the Course of Latin of the State Budget Educational Institution of Higher Professional Training “Bashkir State Medical University” of Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation

The Head of the Chair of Foreign Languages with the Course of Latin is Doctor of Philology, Professor Anatoliy Petrovich Mayorov.

The Chair was founded in 1942. Today the first-year students of all faculties study English, German and Latin with the following credit test at the end of the first term. The students of the Pharmaceutical Faculty continue their study during the second year of education with the following examination at the end of the fourth term. Besides, postgraduate students attend lessons to pass qualifying examination in foreign languages for the Candidate degree.

There are 16 teachers on the staff, 2 of them are Doctors of Science, Professors, 5 – Candidates of Science, Associate Professors and 1 Master of Science. Doctors of Science are A.P. Mayorov – the Head of the Chair, Z.R. Palutina – The Chief of the English Section; Candidates of Science, Associate Professors are I.Kh. Musin, O.N. Gordeeva, N.V. Ismagilova, O.A. Mayorova, V.M. Khakimova, Master of Science – M.R. Nuikina.

The following up-to-date methods of teaching are used: relaxation method, projective technique, integrative lingvo-psycological training.

The scientific and research work is being carried out in the fields of cognitive linguistics and foreign language educational space formation.

During the last 5 years the members of the Chair have published 6 monographs, 2 study guides, more than 50 articles and several text editions.
