17 May, BSMU Clinic hosted the master class “Robotic surgery in the gastric cancer treatment” with the Chinese professors participating

On 17 May, BSMU Clinic hosted the master class "Robotic surgery in the gastric cancer treatment" with the participation of Chinese professors: Vice-Director of the Gastrointestinal Surgery department, Director of the Stomach Cancer Institute of the West China hospital at Sichuan University (China), Professor Hu Jiankun, and a leading specialist of the Gastrointestinal Surgery department of the West China hospital at Sichuan University (China), Vice-President of the Laparoscopic Surgery Youth Society of China, Yang Kun.

Professor, head of the Faculty Surgery department at BSMU, Mahmud Timerbulatov, opened the master class:

- Today gastrointestinal tract cancer takes the leading place in the epidemiology of oncology, not only in our country but worldwide. The number of patients with colorectal cancer is significantly increasing. Moreover, this is one of the most difficult cancer localization from the diagnostic and prognostic point of view. Therefore, we are in joint cooperation with the colleagues from China and using our experience exchange, as it is happening today at the master class, we strive to reduce the number of patients with these pathologies,- shared Mahmud V. Timerbulatov.

Hu Jiankun warmly welcomed the conference participants – students, interns and doctors of BSMU Clinic:

- I am grateful to Professor Valentin N. Pavlov for the invitation to the master class. Robotic operations are now in priority in many respects. In China, the robot-assisted operations are also gaining popularity, I am glad to share my experience and learn from the knowledge of the Bashkir colleagues, - said Hu Jiankun.

Laparoscopic robot-assisted subtotal gastrectomy with anastomosis on RU was held at the Robotic Surgery Center VFD on the basis of BSMU Clinic by the guidance of Professor Hu Jiankun to 52 years-old man. The operation was successful.

The Robotic Surgery Center VFD on the basis of BSMU Clinic was opened in February 2018 and today, with the help of Da Vinci robot the doctors conducted 84 operations for residents of the Republic and neighboring regions.
