The 43rd Republican Ski Individual and Team Competition in the memory of Ph.F. Kurgaev will be held at the sport complex “Biathlon” between BSMU graduates, students and teachers and between medical and pharmaceutical workers

The life and fate of a graduate of our University Philip Kurgaev remains a shining example of Patriotic education for the younger generation.

In the distant Belarusian village Ratomka they organized the Museum dedicated to the underground patriots who fought on the territory of Belarus, where the documents reflecting the feat of Ph. F. Kurgaev are stored.

After graduating Bashkir Medical Institute in 1939, the specialist Philip F. Kurgaev worked as a district doctor for a short time. Great Patriotic War found doctor Kurgaev in Belarus. The sixty-fourth infantry division, in which Ph. F. Kurgaev served, was encircled not far from Minsk. It was necessary to break the enemy's grip. But there were the non-transportable wounded. Philip Kurgaev stayed with the wounded in the rear of the enemy, having decided to organize an underground hospital.

During nine months in the rear of the enemy, they managed to put on foot eighty soldiers and commanders. At the same time, they established contact with the local Tarasovsko-Ratomskiy underground organization. Belarusian partisan units managed to smuggle recovered soldiers. The remaining wounded also recovered. Ph. F. Kurgaev had the opportunity to join the partisans, but he did not want. He decided to serve his medical and military duties. April of 1942 came. Finally, the last wounded recovered, and they decided to go to the partisans all together. However, at that time, when salvation seemed so close, there was a traitor. The Nazis captured Philip Fedorovich and all the activists of Tarasovsko-Patomskiy unit and on April 3, 1942 they were shot after brutal torture. Ph. F. Kurgaev and his comrades were posthumously awarded with high government awards. Near the village of Tarasovka on a high hill, there is a monument, on which the names of brave patriots are inscribed with golden letters. ThefirstnameisPhilipF. Kurgaev.

It is gratifying that from year to year, the level of competition and number of participants are increasing. The most important thing is that the competition is of great importance to perpetuate the memory of Philip F. Kurgaev.

In 2018 the Competition will be held on February 3 in the sport complex "Biathlon" (Ufa, bus stop "Ulitsa Komarova"). Teams gather at 11:00 a.m. Registration and bibs are at 11:30 a.m. The Grand opening is at 11:35 a.m. The Competition starts at 12:00 a.m. Winners reward is at 3:30-4:00 p.m.

The Competition is held on the 43rd time in order to attract medical workers to regular sport exercising, formation of a healthy way of life skills, upbringing among the younger generation the feelings of respect to colleagues who died in the Great Patriotic War, the continuity of generations, identifying the strongest teams and athletes.

Doctors, pharmacists and nursing staff of healthcare organizations, students and faculty of Bashkir State Medical University with appropriate ski training are allowed to participate in the ski races competition.
