BSMU School of medical volunteer received the II degree diploma at the International Competition “Volunteer of Russia”

From 2 to 5 December Moscow hosted the International Forum of Volunteers. It is the final event of the Year of Volunteer in Russia. In addition to educational platforms, the Forum also awards the best projects, volunteer centers and volunteers who participated most actively in 2018.

BSMU medical volunteers are the direction of BSMU Volunteer Center and the regional department of the all-Russian social movement "Medical Volunteers" in the Republic of Bashkortostan. Regional coordinator of the movement in the Republic of Bashkortostan is Firyuza Shingareeva, 6th-year student of the faculty of General Medicine at BSMU.

On 3 December, the results of the Year of Volunteer in the framework of medical volunteering were summed up at the forum "Everyone can become a Volunteer in medicine!" and further prospects for the development of this area were discussed. The speakers of the event were Veronika Skvortsova, the Minister of Healthcare of Russia, Oksana Drapkina, Director of the National Medical Research Center of Preventive Medicine of the Ministry of Healthcare of Russia, Russian singer Polina Gagarina, the moderator of the event was the Chairman of the "Medical Volunteers" Pavel Savchuk.

On 4 December, the meeting of “Medical Volunteers” activists was held, where they summarized the results of project work at the Year of Volunteer in Russia. BSMU Volunteer Medical School project took the II place and was among the best projects of medical volunteers in Russia.

During the forum, Veronika Skvortsova, Russian Minister of Healthcare, expressed gratitude to medical volunteers for their participation in preserving health of the Russians. The head of the department praised the work of volunteers and stressed the importance of their assistance to practical healthcare, as well as a significant contribution to the prevention of diseases and promotion of healthy lifestyles.

"Your positive energy can warm and illuminate the city. Your help is very necessary and in demand today," Veronika Skvortsova believes.

According to the Minister’s opinion, one of the most interesting and effective initiatives of medical volunteers in 2018 was the all-Russian action "Be healthy!", "Stop HIV/AIDS" and "#DobroVSelo", during which volunteers received more than 1,000 rural health posts in the most remote corners of the country.

Veronika Skvortsova noted that the Ministry of Healthcare of the Russian Federation is always open to volunteers and is ready to provide them with any methodological and organizational support. She reminded that for this purpose the Federal Center on volunteering support, mentoring in the field of healthcare was created, and training courses for civil servants on interaction with volunteers were organized.

"The number of medical volunteers across the country increased significantly in 2018. It is important to note that the state and the authorities appreciate your contribution to the development of healthcare. Now it is necessary to unite with colleagues from other countries to accompany major events. Moreover, you have more than enough experience," Veronika Skvortsova said.
