Bashkir State Medical University opens the doors to scientific world of Great Britain

From 1 till 2 March 2019 Sechenov University hosted the I UK Russia Young Medics Conference 2019. Academician Peter Glybochko, rector of Sechenov University, scientific medical circles of Great Britain and the British Embassy in Moscow organized the conference. Representatives of the Ministry of Healthcare actively attended the conference. The decision was made and the relevant agreements on the establishment of the Russian-British Association of young physicians were signed.

The delegation of the Bashkir State Medical University presented by Valentin Pavlov, rector of BSMU, corresponding member of RAS, Professor Naufal Zagidullin, head of the Department of International cooperation, Timur Bikkuzin, assistant Professor of the Ophthalmology department, senior researcher at BSMU Central Research Laboratory, and the student of the 5th year of the faculty of General Medicine Paruyr Davtyan.

Timur Bikkuzin made the poster presentation "Human Induced Pluripotent Stem Cells DifferentiationiInto Corneal Endothelial Cells", and Davtyan Paruyr presented the report "Genetic markers of connective tissue and ions channel sinsick sinus syndrome". The reports of our participants aroused great interest among the participants of the conference. It is worth noting that BSMU was the only non - Moscow University that presented two reports.

At the end of the conference, the round table was held to summarize and discuss the further development plan of the Russian-British Association of young physicians. The following events were announced:

1) December 2019, the Second UK Russia Young Medics Conference will be held at Oxford University. Forty students from medical universities of the Russian Federation with poster or verbal reports are planned to participate. Selection criteria: competitive research project in the field of Biomedicine, as well as a decent presentation of its research project in English.

2) During 2019, it is possible to manage the eight – week scientific training for students and young scientists (up to 35 years) in the leading research laboratories of the universities in England at the period of May 2019 - February 2020 for 14 students from Medical universities of Russia. The participation grant will cover transportation, accommodation and visa costs. Applications will be considered by the board of experts of Sechenov University and representatives of universities in England.
