BSMU students took part in the Winter Medical School “Sechenov.PRO”

From January 29 to February 2, 2020, the "Sechenov.PRO" Winter Medical School was held at the resort Zvenigorod of Sechenov University. One hundred Russian students were chosen among 50,000 applications. Seven students from BSMU took part in the winter school: Diana Rakhmatullina, 5th year, faculty of General Medicine, Garifullin Ayrat, 4th year, faculty of General Medicine, Kostusenko Valeriya, 5th year, faculty of Pediatrics, Hammatov Aydar, 5th year, faculty of Dentistry, Vints Anna, 5th year, faculty of Dentistry, Sayranova Maria, 5th year, faculty of Pharmacy, Voykina Adilya, 6th year, faculty of Preventive Medicine and Biology.  It should be mentioned, that this year, students of the faculty of Preventive Medicine and Biology for the first time had the opportunity to participate in the Olympiad "I am a Professional" and in the Winter Medical School Sechenov.Pro.

At the first day, the participants met with the School's organizers: Tatiana M. Litvinova, Vice-rector for Academic Affairs, and heads of departments of Sechenov University, as well as Tutors of teams. At the end of the day, the medical quest was organized.

The second day began with the Grand opening of the School, which was attended by Rinat Kh. Manushev, head of the territorial administration of Zvenigorod. Speakers of the event were Dmitry Morozov, Chairman of the State Duma for public health, head of the Pediatric Surgery and Urology-andrology department of Sechenov University, Eduard Bezuglov, chief doctor of the national men's national football team of Russia, Ivan Dedov President of The National Medical Research Center for Endocrinology, academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences. The speakers told about their life and professional way and answered the questions of the students. In addition, study cases were held that day.  At the end of the day there was the intellectual game "Absolut". Diana Rakhmatullina and Garifullin Ayrat won the intellectual game "Absolut".

The third day consisted of interesting discussions with speakers. State Duma Deputy Gennady Onishchenko opened the morning panel discussion. The participants discussed issues related to preventing many diseases, including the coronavirus outbreak in China.  Alexey Viktorovich Svet, chief physician of the N. I. Pirogova state medical center №1, also spoke.  The following study cases were held: "First and emergency care according to modern standards", "Stress resistance resources", "Anti-Vaccine myths. From doubt to decision-making about vaccination”, “Influence of exposom factors for different skin conditions". The study case "Influence of exposom factors on various skin conditions", which was held by Ksenia Pepelova - medical expert of VICHY brand, ACD L'oreal Russia Vichy, La Roche-Posay.  After lunch, the meeting with Peter S. Timashev, Director of the Institute of Regenerative Medicine, Dmitry V. Telyshev, Director of the Institute of Bionic Technologies and Engineering, Alexander Lukashev, Director of the E. I. Martsinovsky Institute of Medical Parasitology, Tropical and Vector-borne Diseases, was held.

The discussion platform with leading experts opened the final day: Valentina N. Olesova chief doctor of the Dentistry Clinical center of the FMBA of Russia, President of the Russian Association of Dental Implantology, Vice-President of StAR, chief freelance dentist of the FMBA of Russia, Igor Kagramanyan, First Deputy Chairman of the Federation Council Committee on social policy, and TV presenter Elena Malysheva. Also, Pyotr V. Glybochko, rector of Sechenov University, came to the Winter Medical School. The participants had a unique opportunity to ask questions, communicate, ask advice and discuss admission to residency.

- The Winter Medical School has become a bright and truly memorable event for us. And this, first of all, thanks to the participants and students-organizers of the School, the energy, commitment to their goals, hard work, and desire constantly to learn something new allowed us to create an incredible atmosphere of joint growth, trust and mutual respect. Thanks to this, many students have even deeper and more clear defined their future in Medicine. At the end of the School, everyone received the certificate of completion of the Winter Medical School "Sechenov.Pro" — we had a real graduation with a waltz, songs and a solemn last call!  - participants shared their impressions.

As a result, eight of the most active students in Russia were selected, including two of our students: Diana Rakhmatullina and Garifullin Ayrat.
