The University hosted the Olympiad in Russian as a foreign language dedicated to the 80th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War

From March 18 to April 29, the Department of Russian Language, Linguistics and International Communication of the Bashkir State Medical University of the Ministry of Health of Russia, together with the Dean's Office for Work with Foreign Students and the Scientific Library of the Bashkir State Medical University, held the annual Olympiad in Russian as a foreign language, dedicated to the 80th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War.


The event was attended by over 1,000 foreign students from different universities and different cities of Russia: BSMU, UGNTU, UYI MVD (Ufa), RNIMU named after Pirogov (Moscow), RSPU named after A.I. Herzen (St. Petersburg), PSNIU (Perm), OmSU, (Omsk), Tyumen State University (Tyumen), Orenburg State University (Orenburg), NSTU named after Alekseev (Nizhny Novgorod), KSMU (Kursk), KBSU (Nalchik), KubSMU (Krasnodar), IGHTU (Ivanovo), IrNITU (Irkutsk).


This year, the Olympiad consisted of three stages and was held in full-time and part-time formats for students with basic and first certification levels of Russian language proficiency.


The first stage for all participants was held online, students received links to test materials, where tasks were offered to test their general knowledge of the Russian language. Also, the participants created a video in which they talked about why Victory Day is one of the most important holidays. The organizing committee of the Olympiad received 183 videos in which students talked about the need and importance of preserving the memory of important events for the country and each person.


At the second stage, the participants had to write an essay based on a documentary about the exploits of doctors during the Great Patriotic War. The second stage received 160 works. The competent jury was impressed by the high level of proficiency in Russian and the depth of reasoning of the participants.


On April 28, an online quiz was held for nonresident finalists of the Olympiad, in which 29 students took part.


On April 29, 65 participants with the highest number of points from previous stages were invited to the Intercollegiate Student Campus for an interactive quiz.


6 teams checked not only the knowledge of grammar, vocabulary and word formation of the Russian language, but also the history of Russia, in particular the Great Patriotic War. Students solved anagrams, compared facts about the course and results of the Great Patriotic War, analyzed archival documents and campaign posters and songs of the war years, tried to distinguish genuine documents from fake ones. Note that the participants of the Olympiad actively participated in discussions of tasks within the teams and expressed a desire to participate in the Olympiad next year.


Based on the results of part-time and part-time formats, winners were determined and awarded memorable prizes. The remaining participants were marked with certificates of participation.
