A solemn event dedicated to the 81st anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War was traditionally held on the square in front of the second educational building of the Bashkir State Medical University. The ceremony was attended by the leadership of the university, veterans, professors, students and staff of the University.
The guests of honor of the event were veterans of the Great Patriotic War, graduates of the BGMI, who contributed to the Victory. Askhat Askarovich Mingazetdinov addressed the University staff with a congratulatory speech. In a video message, he noted that during the Great Patriotic War there was not a single family, not a single settlement, wherever there were participants in the war or the dead.
'I was 17 when I went to war. It was very hard, there were very big losses. I congratulate the entire alma mater team. I'm proud of him! Good health to all! Young people - to successfully graduate, be proud and remember their alma mater, she deserves it. Be proud - and you can never go wrong!" Askhat Askarovich said.
Askhat Askarovich Mingazetdinov is a veteran of the Great Patriotic War and Labor, a graduate of BGMI, candidate of medical sciences, associate professor, excellent student of healthcare in the USSR, a doctor of the highest category - Hero of the Front and the luminary of medicine. The veteran went through the whole war. Participated in the battle for Moscow. There were many battles, including the Battle of Kursk. He was wounded four times, and each time the doctors saved his life. After the fourth serious wound in 1944, he was treated for a long time in the hospital, where he met Victory. Seeing the exploits of military doctors, I decided to connect life with medicine. Recall that this year he celebrated his 102nd birthday.
Rector of BSMU, Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Professor Valentin Pavlov noted the contribution of medical veterans, war veterans and home front workers to achieving Victory, emphasizing the importance of their courage, selfless work and loyalty to the Fatherland
"81 years ago, the bloodiest war in human history ended. We honor the memory of our heroes: one and a half thousand students and teachers went to the front. Among them is Philip Fedorovich Kurgaev. His underground hospital returned hundreds of fighters to duty. The courage of our heroes is a moral guideline for us," Valentin Pavlov.
Our students performed military-patriotic compositions, poems dedicated to the feat of the Soviet people. Students' creative performances prove that the memory of the war remains in the hearts of young people.
The ceremony ended with the laying of flowers at the memorial sign "For the Motherland of Life Given in 1941-1945," established in honor of the teachers and doctors of the University who died during the war. On the memorial plate are immortalized the names of employees and graduates of the university who have not returned from the fronts. According to historical data, out of 1305 medical workers of the Bashkir Autonomous Soviet Socialist Republic sent to the front, 92 doctors and 4 teachers of the Bashkir Medical Institute gave their lives in the fight against the enemy.
Today, the memory of the feat of Bashkir doctors is kept not only in the archives, but also in the traditions of our University. Annual solemn events, museum expositions preserve the historical truth and educate a new generation of doctors, for whom loyalty to the Fatherland remains an important value.
