The Central Research Laboratory (CRL) is the basic scientific department of the University. The laboratory was opened in 1977. CRL's contribution to the University's scientific activity is made up of the integrated approach: from providing job to the full implementation of scientific developments.
The Laboratory is fitted with the modern equipment: ELISA, biochemical, hematology analyzers, spectrophotometers, chemiluminometric, chromatographic complex devices for electrophysiological studies and other necessary devices for the performance of scientific research equipment. There is a typical vivarium for long - term maintenance of experimental animals.
The priorities in the work of CRL are:
- development, mastery and implementation of high technology;
- provision of methodological, advisory and technical assistance to the University staff;
- assistance in improving the quality of training;
- involvement of students, young scientists, systematic and consistent formation and consolidation of knowledge, special skills required in scientific and practical work.
The leading direction of the Central Research Laboratory is studying the processes of free radical oxidation in humans and animals in normal conditions, in pathology, environmental factors, drugs, etc., evaluation of antioxidant activity of food additives, beekeeping products etc. There was formed the idea about the role of oxidative stress in the adaptive processes. To solve these problems, they worked out the original express methods of free radical research, based on the registration of chemiluminescence, i.e. ultra-weak glow of biological material, protected by patents and copyright certificates. The Central Research Laboratory along with other organizations develop devices for the registration of chemiluminescence – chemiluminometric. In particular, BSMU and the staff of Ufa State Aviation Technical University (USATU) designed and put into production a portable device with a package of programs for chemiluminescence analysis. The device has been numerously demonstrated at international exhibitions in Russia and abroad, and it was marked by the diploma "Golden innovations of Russia". It is used in basic research and in medical institutions. Methods for the study chemiluminescence of blood, cells, urine, saliva, etc., environmental samples, methods for determining the antioxidant activity of substances, medicines, food additives, etc. are introduced in research and clinical practice. Joint research on the influence of space flight factors on the processes of free radical oxidation and ways of their correction was conducted with Yu.A. Gagarin Research and Test Cosmonaut Training Center.
The Central Research Laboratory took and continue to take up the issues on General and Applied Immunology significant. These studies are of a fundamental theoretical nature.
The Central Research Laboratory studies the molecular and cellular mechanisms of reproductive disorders in extreme and background effects of different nature and intensity, searches for molecular-genetic and metabolic markers of prognosis of fertility and pregnancy outcomes in natural cycle and fertilization.
The staff of CRL contribute to the training of highly qualified personnel. They constantly provide methodological and advisory assistance in carrying scientific research. On the basis of CRL doctoral candidates, postgraduates, applicants made fragments or sections of different volume and content of more than 50 doctoral and 100 master's theses, scientific novelty and practical significance of which gave the basis for obtaining more than 70 copyright certificates and patents, a number of rationalization proposals, guidelines, implemented in research and in practical health care. A large number of international and federal scientific reports have been prepared.
Researchers and teachers from more than 30 universities and research institutions participated in the research conducted in the Central Research Laboratory. The Laboratory has created favorable conditions for the active involvement of students and young scientists in research work.
The profile of functional groups, which are included into the Central Research Laboratory, correspond to scientific directions and qualifications of employees.
