Everything happened thanks to one of the luminaries of pediatrics - professor, doctor of medical sciences, deputy of the Supreme Council of the BASSR, organizer and founder of the Republican Children's Clinical Hospital Lira Dayanovna Gataullina. Back in 1977, at the Department of Childhood Diseases of the Medical Faculty of the Bashkir Medical Institute named after the 15th anniversary of the Komsomol (head of the department, Doctor of Medical Sciences, Professor L.D. Gataullina), for the first time in the republic an advanced training course for pediatricians was organized in clinical base of city hospital No. 6. For this purpose, experienced clinical teachers were involved: Nasyrova S.I., Andarzhanov F.K., Smirnova L.K., Nikolaeva

The latter significantly optimized the organization of comprehensive teaching of pediatrics and pediatric surgery, improved the training of pediatricians in various areas of intensive and emergency therapy.

In 1996, the Faculty of Advanced Training of Physicians (FUV) received the status of the Institute of Postgraduate Education (IPO), and in 1999, the Department of Pediatrics IPO of BSMU was separated from the Department of Pediatrics and Pediatric Surgery of the IPO. The department was headed by Professor Airat Gainetdinovich Mutalov, and the staff of teachers was replenished with associate professors Arduvanova G.M., Salimova L.Ya., Shagarova S.V.
