The Department of Pedagogy and Psychology was founded in 1993 on the basis of the Faculty of Higher Nursing Education.
The main scientific direction of the department is the study of the theoretical, methodological, content and technological foundations of secondary and higher professional medical education, as well as the problems of labor and professional socialization of students. The results of scientific developments are the basis for the development of innovative approaches to the educational process.
Prospects for the development of the department are related with:
-the introduction of innovative pedagogical technologies into the educational process (problematic lectures using multimedia technologies, role-playing and business games on current issues of higher medical education, technology for guided self-study of students; case technologies);
-strengthening the educational function of the disciplines taught at the department (development of elective courses aimed at developing the moral, ethical and communicative qualities of future doctors);
-the expansion of research work topics of the department employees and students of various faculties, as well as residents and graduate students of the University.

HISTORY OF THE DEPARTMENT
The Department of Pedagogy and Psychology was founded in 1993. Since its founding, the department has been headed by Doctor of Pedagogical Sciences, Professor A.F. Amirov. The teaching staff of the department is represented by specialists in the field of pedagogy, psychology and bioethics.
In the structure of various areas of activity of the university, the Department of Pedagogy and Psychology covers all educational programs of the university with its activities. The head of the department, Artur Ferdsovich Amirov, in addition to performing functions related to the tasks of the educational process, is a member of the Academic Council of BSMU, the Coordinating Scientific and Pedagogical Council, the LEC (local ethical committee), as well as a number of other methodological councils and associations of the university. In 2001, he completed and successfully defended his doctoral dissertation, and the results of his research were successfully introduced into the practice of educational institutions of the Republic of Bashkortostan and the Russian Federation. From this period to the present, under the leadership of A.F. Amirov, six teachers of the department defended their candidate dissertations on topics directly related to the profile of the department. In addition to the employees of the department, under the leadership of Artur Ferdsovich, teachers from other universities and secondary vocational education institutions of the Republic of Bashkortostan and other constituent entities of the Russian Federation - a total of 21 people - defended their candidate dissertations.
The Department of Pedagogy and Psychology is currently a center of advanced scientific research in the field of innovative education and the field of scientific personnel training, actively interacts with the
country's leading scientific teams, with educational authorities, educational institutions, the Federal Accreditation Agency in the field of education and a number of other interested departments. Particularly noteworthy is the interaction with practical medical institutions, which are the basis for conducting research, testing and implementing the results of scientific work at the level of student research and dissertations of teachers.
Today, the department is also a center for student research in the fields of medical pedagogy, psychology, psycholinguistics and bioethics. Scientific student conferences, Olympiads and forums on a wide range of scientific problems are held here annually. Since December 2017, the Department of Pedagogy and Psychology has been training the University teaching staff under the additional professional development program “Modern psychological, pedagogical, educational and information (IT) technologies in the implementation of basic and adaptive educational programs.”
A significant contribution to the development of the department is made by the employees of the department (Lipatova E.E., Konshina Yu.E., Kudashkina O.V., Murzagalina L.V., Ivanovsky Yu.V., Bekhtereva A.V., Khusaenova A.A. , Trusov S.V., Nelyubina E.V., Egorova E.E.).
The department carries out the educational process in all specialties and areas of training at BSMU.
Employees of the department have developed and updated work programs in the main disciplines “Psychology and Pedagogy”, “Pedagogy”, “Biomedical Ethics”, “Inclusive Competence”, “Communicative Activities”, “Professional Communication of a Doctor” and programs for foreign students in accordance with the Federal State Educational Standard for Higher Education.
The department has prepared and taught elective courses for students of all specialties “Communication activities”, “Conflictology”. Programs for elective disciplines have been developed: “Culture of Communication and Mutual Understanding”, “Psychology of Social Work”, “Organization of Volunteer Activities”.
Teachers of the department actively use computer technologies in teaching students. The department has created and introduced into the educational process computer training and monitoring programs, multimedia support for lectures for disciplines on all topics, multimedia atlases for practical classes and 59 multimedia situational tasks. The department has created and is using a rich fund of video and audio materials. A course of lectures and a textbook “Workbook on Psychology and Pedagogy” was published, approved by the Coordination Council for Medical and Pharmaceutical Education of the Russian Federation.
Employees of the department undergo professional development in a timely manner in their specialty and in pedagogy and psychology both at the level of BSMU and the Russian Federation (Moscow, St. Petersburg, Samara, Kazan, Innopolis).
The department actively works with foreign students.
The methodological work of the department is distinguished by a traditionally high level.
Based on the results of educational and methodological work in recent years, the department has repeatedly taken first place among the theoretical departments of BSMU, receiving a large cup and a diploma “Best Department”, and Professor Amirov A.F. - the title of the best head of the department of BSMU.
An educational program has been developed and is being implemented to improve the pedagogical qualifications of higher education teachers.
The Department of Pedagogy and Psychology hosted a youth scientific and practical forum “Current problems of medical psychology, pedagogy, bioethics and linguistic aspects of medical activity within the framework of the All-Russian Science Festival NAUKA 0+.”
