HISTORY OF THE DEPARTMENT

 

The Department of Oncology with courses of oncology and pathological anatomy of IDPO is located on the basis of the Republican Clinical Oncology Dispensary. The department trains doctors in the specialties "medicine", "pediatrics", "preventive medicine", trains oncologists as part of residency, postgraduate studies, vocational training and retraining, and also conducts short-term thematic refresher courses. The staff of the department published textbooks on topical issues of oncology, prepared computer programs for teaching and testing students who have repeatedly been presented at educational and methodological competitions, created an electronic training and control complex "Oncology" (E-Learning "Oncology") for educational institutions of higher education, published textbooks on which most universities of the Russian Federation are engaged Federation and CIS countries. The staff of the department is actively engaged in scientific activities, they have published more than 2000 scientific papers, received more than 80 patents, more than 10 grants. Teachers of the Oncology Department take an active part in the treatment process of the clinic's departments. In recent years, more than 100 new methods of diagnosis, treatment and prevention of cancer patients have been introduced into the practice of clinical departments.

HISTORY OF THE DEPARTMENT

 

Oncology as a science in the Republic of Bashkortostan began to develop after the opening of an oncological dispensary in Ufa (1945). In the 1950s, Professor I.G. Kadyrov paid much attention to the organization of oncological services in the BASSR. Under his leadership, research was initiated to improve the treatment and prevention of oncological pathology. In the 1960s and 1980s, the clinic carried out scientific work on topical problems of oncology. So, N.A. Loginov studied the effectiveness of interstitial gamma therapy for lower lip cancer, R.G. Badykov improved the method of treating stomach cancer, N.S. Safin is a method of treating lymphomas, V.G. Bebyakin – primary multiple tumors, B.B. Kudashev and M.Ya. Nazmetdinov - lung cancer, I.H. Hidiyatov – rectal cancer.

 

In 1975, a course of oncology was organized, which was then reorganized into the Department of Oncology. The first head of the Department of Oncology was Professor N.P. Nikov (1975-1986).

 

From 1986 to 1989, the department was headed by associate professor M.M. Murzanov. In 1989, the Department of Oncology was headed by Professor Sh.Kh. Gantsev. In 1999, the Department of Oncology was reorganized into the Department of Oncology, Radiation Diagnostics and Radiation Therapy of BSMU. In 2002, the department was reorganized again into the Department of Oncology with the IPO course. Since 2003, the head of the course of oncology of IDPO, Doctor of Medical Sciences O.N. Lipatov. In different years, the department has been working with Doctor of Medical Sciences V.R. Ibragimov, associate Professor V.N. Ruchkin, associate professor M.Ya. Nazmetdinov, assistant candidates of Medical Sciences V.G. Bebyakin, R.T. Bakirov, T.N. Epeikina, F.A. Sultangaleeva, L.A. Reshetova, G.Yu. Ganieva, M.G. Galeev, R.R. Badykov, Yu.N. Khrizman, Z.Sh. Yumagulov, R.F. Ganeev, A.A. Gazizov. Currently, the department employs professors O.N. Lipatov, I.R. Rakhmatullina, K.Sh. Gantsev, associate professors Sh.R. Kzyrgalin, D.S. Tursumetov, Sh.M. Khusnutdinov, F.R. Munasypov, R.T. Ayupov, V.Yu. Frolova, K.V. Menshikov, assistant Ishmuratova K.R.

 

The department has always paid great attention to improving the educational process. Since 1989, oncology has been taught on a block basis. Since 1990, oncology has been included in the curriculum at the Pediatric Faculty. Oncology is a mandatory subject for clinical residents of all specialties. In 1995, a laboratory of new educational technologies was established at the department, on the basis of which an electronic textbook "Oncology" was prepared under the editorship of Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences V.I. Chissov. In 2001, the electronic textbook was republished. Its presentation took place at the Congress of oncologists of Russia (Kazan). In 2003, the department published the first Russian electronic textbook "Oncology" with the stamp of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation, recognized as the best Russian textbook by the end of the year. In 2003 and 2004, the department published 5 textbooks with the stamp of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation. The highest achievement for all the years of the department's work was the publication of the textbook "Oncology" for students of medical universities in Russia with the stamp UMO MO (2004). The textbook is published in MIA publishing house (Moscow). In 2007, a workshop on oncology (MIA) was published. In 2008, an illustrated atlas on oncology was published in collaboration with Academician M.I. Davydov (MIA). In 2009, the staff of the department participated in the publication of a modular workshop on oncology (edited by Academician M.I. Davydov, GEOTAR-Media publishing house). In 2013, the textbook "Oncology" was published (M.I. Davydov, Sh.Kh. Gantsev, GEOTAR-Media publishing house). Subsequently, textbooks of "Oncology" were published in 2020 (Phoenix, Rostov-on-Don), in 2023 (GEOTAR-Media, Moscow), which was written by an international team of authors (participants from 5 countries). Thus, with the participation of the staff of the department, a full range of educational literature was created: a textbook-workshop-atlas.

 

Atlas of Oncology (Ganev Sh.Kh. together with Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences M.I. Davydov) was recognized as the best atlas of Russia in 2009. The volume of the atlas is 1300 photos and drawings. A "Guide to practical classes in oncology" has been published, including drawings, photographs, diagrams, radiographs, and text materials. The staff of the department published textbooks on topical issues of oncology, prepared dozens of computer programs for training and testing students, which were repeatedly presented at educational and methodological competitions.

 

For a number of years, the department has been at the forefront of the university based on the results of educational and methodological work. A natural result of the continuous improvement of the educational and methodological process at the department was that the decision of the Problematic Educational and Methodological Commission on Oncology of the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation from 06/28/2005, the Department of Oncology of BSMU was recognized as the best Department of Oncology among Russian universities for the creation of an educational and methodological complex textbook-practicum-atlas on electronic media. For the first time in 2006, a visiting meeting of the Problematic Educational and Methodological Commission on Oncology of the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation was held on the basis of the Department of Oncology of BSMU, which was attended by heads of departments of oncology of leading universities in Russia. At the meeting of the Problem Commission, the issues of teaching oncology in the context of reforming the education system were discussed. Tactical and strategic tasks were identified to improve the quality of oncology training in Russian universities.

 

Teachers of the Oncology Department take an active part in the treatment process of the clinic's departments. Active participation in rounds, consultations, operations and the main principle of activity of the department staff. In recent years, more than 100 new methods of diagnosis and treatment of cancer patients have been introduced into the practice of clinical departments.

 

Under the leadership of Academician of the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Belarus, Professor Sh.Kh. Gantsev, more than 130 candidate dissertations, 19 doctoral dissertations were completed. Among these studies, the following should be noted – V.R. Ibragimov's doctoral dissertation is devoted to cancer prevention, R.G. Badykov – surgical treatment of lung cancer, G.N. Karabanov – correction of hemorheology in cancer, A.M. Khanova – prevention of breast cancer, O.N. Lipatov – study of malignant lymphomas, clinical and laboratory factors of treatment prognosis, A.G. Pukhova – surgical rehabilitation of cancer patients, S.M. Demidov and A.V. Dorofeeva – treatment of breast cancer, V.Y. Dudnik – treatment of colon cancer, D.D. Sakaeva – optimization of chemotherapy in the treatment of cancer patients, I.R. Rakhmatullina – organization of care for cancer patients, P.B. Zotov conducted a study of the mental status of cancer patients, and S.V. Vyrupaev improved methods of plastic surgery for neoplasms of the head and necks , etc . Akranova, M.H. Ozieva, V.S. Tenbekova, A.G. Eidinov, O.S. Leontieva, R.R. Shakirov, M.A. Tatunova, Sh.I. Musina, L.V. Khalikova.

 

Professors I.R. Rakhmatullina prepared – 7 candidates of medical sciences, O.N. Lipatov – 4 candidates of medical sciences, K.Sh. Gantsev – 4 candidates of medical sciences.

 

In 1991, the Society of Oncologists of the Republic of Belarus was organized, the president of which was Academician of the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Belarus, Professor Sh.Kh. Gantsev. A significant number of scientific sessions were held with the publication of materials. Since 2017, the Chairman of the Society of Oncologists of Bashkortostan, Professor O.N. Lipatov. The department published the journal "Creative Surgery and Oncology", which meets the criteria of the leading peer-reviewed scientific journals included by the Higher Attestation Commission of Russia in the list of publications recommended for publishing the main scientific results of the dissertation for the degree of candidate and Doctor of Sciences. Since 2017, the journal has been published by Bashkir State Medical University.

An important direction of innovative development of a modern medical university is the humanization of higher professional medical education, orienting future specialists to universal humanistic values and problems of a particular person in the medical care system. The department pays great attention to these issues. A creative learning model is being implemented, which makes it possible to ensure a high level of professional and social mobility of a medical university graduate, to equip him with the abilities for self-education and creativity in conditions of rapid transformation of the content of professions and continuous expansion of professional competencies. Much attention at the department is paid to the deontological component, the relationship between the doctor and the patient as a factor that has a significant impact on the final result of treatment, the doctor's ability to turn the patient into an ally, to organize tactics and strategy of his behavior during treatment and during the rehabilitation period.

Cooperation and assistance to student self-government bodies in solving issues of social culture, amateur activities is carried out according to the university plan.

Sports events are held with the invitation of leading athletes and the participation of students (a simultaneous game session with the world chess champion Tamara Tansykkuzhina, a meeting with the hockey players of the Salavat Yulaev club, etc.).

Teachers of the Department of Oncology take an active part in the treatment process of the clinic's departments: participation in rounds, consultations, operations. Over the past 5 years, more than 100 new methods of diagnosis and treatment of cancer patients have been introduced into the practice of clinical departments. The focus is constantly on medical issues and scientific guidance on the development of new methods of treatment of tumor pathology, as well as the implementation of a program to combat malignant tumors in the Republic of Bashkortostan.

Achievements of the department

The highest achievement for all the years of the department's work was the publication of the textbook "Oncology" for students of medical universities in Russia with the stamp UMO MO (2004). The textbook is published in MIA publishing house (Moscow). Subsequently, textbooks were published in a number of publishing houses of the Russian Federation. In 2007, a workshop on oncology (MIA) was published. In 2008, an illustrated atlas on oncology was published in collaboration with Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences M.I. Davydov (MIA). In 2009, the staff of the department participated in the publication of a modular workshop on oncology (edited by Academician M.I. Davydov, GEOTAR publishing house). In 2013, the textbook "Oncology" was published (M.I. Davydov, Sh.Kh. Gantsev, GEOTAR publishing house). In 2023, the textbook "Oncology" was published with an international author's composition. Thus, with the participation of the staff of the department, a full range of educational literature was created: a textbook-workshop-atlas. The project "A set of educational publications on the discipline and specialty "Oncology" for the training of specialists in the system of higher, postgraduate and additional professional education" was awarded within the framework of the VIII All—Russian Congress of Oncologists on September 12, 2013 in St. Petersburg, the Second All-Russian Award for achievements in the field of oncology "In vita veritas" in the nomination "The Best scientific and educational project".

Head of the Department, Academician of the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Belarus Sh.Kh. Gantsev for more than 20 years headed the professional community of oncologists of the Republic of Bashkortostan, leader of the federal project of the Professional Community of practitioners "Preventive Medicine", founder of the charity Cancer Foundation. He was a member of the commission on State Prizes of the Republic of Bashkortostan in the field of science and technology. Winner of the TV award "Hero of our Time – 2008" in the nomination "Good deed". Participated in the founding congress of the Unity Party and the all-Russian movement "People's Front for Russia!". He was awarded the Orders of Honor, "Labore et Scientia — Labor and Knowledge", the medals "Professional of Russia", "For merits in the development of medicine and healthcare", "For Courage and Humanism", the diploma of the Russian Palliative Care Foundation "For the creation of a scientific school".
