The Department of Prosthetic Dentistry with IDPO courses is located in the building of the Dental Clinic of BSMU, at Chernyshevsky st. 104. Practical classes are held in educational and treatment rooms for 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th year students of the Dental Faculty. The educational base is constantly being improved. A phantom class has been organized, where good conditions have been created for students to master basic knowledge and practical skills using phantom simulators.

HISTORY OF THE DEPARTMENT

From September 1, 2017, in accordance with Order No. 63 dated June 16, 2017, the Departments of General dentistry and Maxillofacial surgery of the IDPO and  Department of Prosthetic dentistry were merged and renamed into the Department of Prosthetic dentistry and maxillofacial surgery with IDPO courses.

The department was headed by Sergey Vitalievich Averianov, Doctor of Medical Sciences, Professor, Honored Worker of Science and Education, Honored Doctor of the Republic Bashortostan, Excellent Scholar in Healthcare of Russian Federation, Excellent Scholar in Dentistry, Freelance Expert for Roszdravnadzor, Member of the Problem Commission on Dentistry.

Department of Prosthetic Dentistry and Maxillofacial Surgery with IDPO courses

From 1st of September, 2017 according to order No. 63 dated June 16, 2017, the departments were merged and renamed into the Department of Prosthetic Dentistry and Maxillofacial Surgery with courses of IDPO, which was headed by Doctor of Medical Sciences, Professor S.V. Averianov.

From 1st of September, 2021 The Department of Prosthetic Dentistry and Maxillofacial Surgery with IDPO courses was renamed to the Department of Prosthetic Dentistry with IDPO courses.

The scientific direction of the department is “Systematic approach to the treatment of periodontal diseases”, “Organization of dental care for the population of the Republic Bashkortostan”. The priority directions of the department in research work include organization of dental care for the population of the Republic Bashkortostan, systematic approach to the problems of periodontal tissue pathology, optimization of the treatment of maxillofacial pathology, influence of anthropogenic environmental factors of the Republic Bashkortostan on dental morbidity and ways of early diagnosis and prevention of dental pathology caused by them; modern methods of diagnosis, treatment and prevention of diseases of the oral mucosa, hard tissues of teeth, dentofacial anomalies.

Currently, the department is conducting dissertation research by graduate students under the guidance of prof. Averyanov S.V., prof. Selsky N.E., prof. Lazarev S.A. Employees of the department published 5 monographs, more than 300 scientific papers, including 200 articles in foreign publications and scientific publications recommended by the Higher Attestation Commission, 20 patents were received.

The department trains 2nd to 5th year students of the Dental Faculty Dentistry in the discipline of prosthetic dentistry, 5th year students in maxillofacial surgery, as well as 6th year students of the Faculty of Medicine in the discipline of dentistry.

The department successfully implements cycles of additional professional programs for primary professional retraining and advanced training in the following specialties: therapeutic dentistry, prosthetic dentistry, surgical dentistry, general dentistry, maxillofacial surgery, pediatric dentistry, orthodontics o on a budgetary and extra-budgetary basis.

Teachers of the department are proficient in all modern technologies of prosthetic treatment, actively share their experience with students and residents, doctors of six dental specialties, work in collaboration with healthcare institutions to improve medical and teaching services. Currently, the department is training 98 residents of the 1st year of study and 93 residents of the 2nd year of study in the specialties of general dentistry, orthodontics, maxillofacial surgery, prosthetic dentistry and surgical dentistry. . Experienced doctors and heads of prosthetic departments of dental clinics actively participate in the educational process. Employees of the department actively give lectures, conduct seminars and practical classes, master classes among doctors and dental technicians in professional retraining and advanced training courses, as well as continuous medical education systems, take part at scientific and practical conferences, dental congresses, symposiums, and actively participate in organizing and conducting scientific and practical seminars for doctors with the involvement of foreign companies on the introduction of new modern treatment technologies, working to improve them, actively continuing training and improvement of highly qualified personnel, participating in the reform of education in general, actively participating in accreditation events, methodological updates.
