The Department of Therapy and Nursing with patient care was established in 1994 in accordance with the order of the Bashgosmedinstitut of 23.08.94 No. 23 and had no analogue in the history of the university. Since September 1, 1994, the department was headed by Doctor of Medical Sciences, Professor V.L. Nazifullin. From December 2019 to 31.08.2023, the acting head of the department was PhD, Associate Professor G.F. Imelguzin. Since 01.09.2023 – Head of the Department of Therapy and Nursing with Patient Care, Doctor of Medical Sciences, Professor I.F. Sufiyarov.

Since February 2003, the department has been functioning in GKB No. 8, its study rooms are located in the therapeutic building. Other clinical bases are the Republican Clinical Oncological Dispensary, gerontological center "Imenlek", Ufa Hospice, polyclinic No. 46, clinic "Eridita".

The teaching staff of the department is represented by specialists in internal, surgical, pediatric diseases and nursing.

The Department of Therapy and Nursing with Patient Care has phantom classes on manipulative nursing techniques and training in first aid skills (author – Prof. V.L. Nazifullin).

The department teaches the basics of general care for sick adults and children, first aid, nursing to students of the 1st and 2nd year of medical, pediatric, preventive medicine faculties, specialties medical biochemistry and medical biophysics; The 3rd year of the pharmaceutical and 1st year of the dental faculties according to curricula combining phantom and clinical training cycles, as well as (from 2021) fifteen disciplines and practices for students of the Nursing training area (bachelor's level, full-time and part-time education); eight disciplines and practices - training areas Social work (bachelor's degree level, full-time and part-time education). In the process of teaching students practical skills in patient care in the clinic, the teachers of the department pay special attention to instilling in them the principles of medical ethics and deontology, overcoming the psychological barrier in relations with patients.

In the course of teaching the basics of general patient care, students perform coursework in the form of abstracts based on a review of literary and other sources on various problems of biomedical ethics. The training course ends with student readings on biomedical ethics, which are popular among students. This form of educational work among undergraduates of the university was first used 29 years ago, the author of which is the head of the department, Professor V.L. Nazifullin.

The staff of the department performs diagnostic and consulting work in basic medical and preventive institutions, organizes hospital and large-scale scientific and practical conferences, training cycles of improvement on topical issues of internal diseases, theory and practice of nursing.

On May 12, 1997, for the first time in the healthcare practice of the Republic of Bashkortostan, on the initiative of prof. V.L. Nazifullin, the International Nurse Day was celebrated with conferences that have become traditional and are held annually on the topic of "Practice and training in nursing".
