The head of the department is Doctor of Medical Sciences, Professor, Honored Doctor of the Republic of Bashkortostan, excellent student of the Russian Academy of Sciences Guzyal Shagbanovna Safuanova.

The department is located on the territory of the Republican Clinical Hospital named after. G.G. Kuvatova is a medical institution with 1,138 beds, the versatility and high-tech equipment of which create conditions for training students at the proper level.

The department employs 3 professors, 3 associate professors, 2 laboratory assistants. The department has extensive experience in the system of postgraduate training of doctors.

HISTORY OF THE DEPARTMENT

The Department of Therapy and General Medical Practice with a Geriatrics Course of the IDPO is the first department of postgraduate education in the republic (established in 1979) for general practitioners. Over the years, the names of the department have changed:

-since 1989 - Department of Therapy at the Faculty of Medicine with a course of traditional medicine;

-since 1997 - Department of Therapy at the Faculty of Physics with a course in Cardiology at the Institute of Postgraduate Education (IPO);

-since 2004 - Department of Therapy and General Medical Practice (GP) IPO;

-since 2006 - Department of Therapy and General AFP with a course in Geriatrics IPO,

-since 2011 - Department of Therapy and AFP with a course of geriatrics and training of therapeutic interns IPO,

-since 2013 – Department of Therapy and AFP with a geriatrics course at the Institute of Postgraduate Education.

The department provides postgraduate training of doctors, including residents, in the following specialties: therapy, general practice, hematology, pulmonology, nephrology and geriatrics. The department conducts advanced training cycles for doctors (144 hours), including on-site courses, as well as professional retraining cycles (576 and 504 hours). In total, more than 20,000 doctors were trained at the department. New methods are included in teaching: distance learning, the use of electronic educational systems, continuous medical education.

The staff of the department have developed application documents for all taught disciplines and educational and methodological complexes, including methodological developments, recommendations for lectures and practical classes, a set of situational tasks, test tasks, and practical skills.

Since 2017, cycles of advanced training have been conducted as part of continuing medical education (36 hours) in all specialties taught at the department.

 

New work programs for elective courses have been developed for 5th year students of the Faculty of Medicine 108 hours: “Current issues in geriatrics” and “Orphan diseases in therapy.”

 

The department has created a library, a collection of journals, and published more than 200 educational and methodological recommendations and manuals for practitioners on various issues of therapy. For practical training with cadets, there are sets of electrocardiograms, radiographs, clinical and biochemical research data.
