The department was founded in 1985 first as an advanced training course for surgeons at the Department of Surgical Diseases No. 2 at the City Clinical Hospital No. 21 in Ufa. In 1988, the Department of Surgery was established with the course of endoscopy of the Faculty of Advanced Training for Doctors of the Bashkir State Medical University.
