The aim of the Conference was to search the ways expanding Russian-Indian partnership by deepening cooperation in education.

It should be noted that Russia and India are strategic partners in different fields including education. A great number of Indian students enter Russian universities every year. According to various data its number is 6-10 thousands students. About 90% of them study in medical universities of our country. Nevertheless, the number of Indian students has decreased in comparison with other countries. That is why nowadays one the chief aims is to improve the quality of applicants and enlarge their number in Russian universities.

As the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of India in Russia, E.P. Pankaj Saran, pointed out – “Despite the wide interaction between Russia and India, huge potential in the field of education remains unfulfilled”. From his point of view, the main reason of it is the lack of information. Concerning this question, Ivan Timofeev, Program Director of Russian International Affairs Council (RIAC), noticed that it was not the drawback only of Russian universities but other international universities whose native language is not English.

In his speech the Minister of Education and Welfare at the Embassy of India in Russia, Alok Raj, emphasized the advantages of higher education for Indian students in Russia such as modern technologies, reasonable tuition fees, friendly atmosphere and attitude to foreign students.

The participants of the Conference discussed such questions as quality of applicants and education, training infrastructure and accommodation, security, further successful passing FMGE exam.

Concerning Bashkir State Medical University, it should be pointed out that more than 800 international students study in the University and more than 300 of them are from India. The international students choose different faculties of our University: Faculty of General Medicine, Pediatrics, Preventive Medicine, Dentistry or Pharmacy.
