What is dangerous iodine deficiency for? Why do you need iodine prophylaxis? These and other issues were discussed at the school "Young medic". The head of the Endocrinology Department, the chief endocrinologist of the Republic of Bashkortostan, Doctor of Medical Sciences, Professor Tatyana V. Morugova, told about the relevance of this problem to the students. The participants learned about the role of iodine in metabolic processes in the human body; about thyroid hormones that enhance basic, carbohydrate, fat and protein metabolism; about iodine deficiency diseases; and about the possibilities of iodine prophylaxis. The report was accompanied by the presentation of thematic slides, and the participants had the opportunity to check the condition of the thyroid gland with the help of palpation. The students thanked the Professor for the detailed story about such a difficult profession as a doctor-endocrinologist.
In the second part of the lesson, Deputy Executive Secretary of the Selection Committee, Anfisa R. Valeeva, introduced students to the features of the upcoming Admission campaign. She dwelt in more details on frequently asked questions: what points for the exam can be applied for budget places? How many budget places and fee places are allocated? What individual achievements are taken into account in the University upon admission? What benefits are provided for certain categories of citizens? etc.
The next lesson will be held on 10 April, which is planned to get acquainted with the medical College. We thank the guests of the school "Young medic" for interesting conversations.
