The experts from the USA and Bashkir State Medical University held the master classes on rehabilitation medicine in BSMU Clinic

On 19-26 March 2018 experts from the USA and Bashkir State Medical University: physical therapist, Dr. Cynthia Robinson, Washington University, Seattle, USA, neurologist, Prof. Akhmadeeva Leyla, BSMU, Ufa, and orthopedic surgeon Tevdoradze Z. G., BSMU Clinic, Ufa, held a series of workshops on rehabilitation medicine at BSMU Clinic.

Neurologists, cardiologists, rheumatologists, therapists, gynecologists, traumatologists, methodologists of physical therapy, psychologists, nurses, residents, postgraduates, students of our University have mastered new skills in proprioceptive neuromuscular facilitation (PNF), Nordic walking, exercise complexes for urinary incontinence of various etiologies, restorative treatment for pain syndromes, after leg joint replacement, after amputation, vascular surgery, endoprosthetic surgery and endoscopic surgery etc.

Dr. Cynthia Robinson cited the data from different publications and her own practice, demonstrated techniques used by physical therapists in the United States, actively worked with patients and taught the Russian colleagues in Ufa and in the countryside. A very productive meeting the doctor held in Ilishevsky district, RB. Genuine interest and lively discussion was caused by the message of prof. Akhmadeeva L. R. and Dr. Cynthia Robinson on the use of botulinum therapy in rehabilitation practice, presented to all the employees of BSMU Clinic and students in the Clinic. The participants of the master classes and patients highly appreciated the skills of teachers. As they say, they are ready to use the proposed methods in their lives and practice. The most important thing is that the vast majority of them do not require expensive equipment. Much attention was paid to multidisciplinary work and the use of the international classification of functioning.

We are very grateful to BSMU leadership and BSMU Clinic, Department of International Relations, the staff of the Simulation Centre, BSMU canteen and BSMU Clinic canteen, the Transport Department and all who participated in organizing and conducting such useful practice master classes, including students from BSMU Volunteer Crew who helped to the students, translating lectures and practical sessions. BSMU Volunteer Crew students are Mavlyutova Aliya, Karan Verma, Volkov Michael and Gizatullin Rinat. Doctor Cynthia Robinson and the head of the Center of Neurology, Rehabilitation Medicine and Botulinum Therapy Prof. Akhmadeeva L. R. and others are ready to offer several topics for planning the next Dr. Robinson’s potential visit to Ufa and the next Autumn University Neurological readings in 2018. Rector of BSMU, corresponding member of Russian Academy of Sciences Professor Pavlov V. N. signed the invitation for Dr. Cynthia Robinson to our University for the future collaboration.
