Bashkir doctors performed the surgery on vessels using a unique device

BSMU Clinic again held the operation using the latest technology. Now, without incisions, sutures and anesthesia the doctors relieve the person from such a widespread disease, as aneurysms of the blood vessels. This operation is performed with the use of a special device – stent graft. In total, only 25 operations of this kind were carried out in Russia. In the Republic of Bashkortostan it was used for the first time.

Vladimir Ishmetov, head of the Endovascular Diagnosis and Treatment Department of BSMU Clinic, commented: "It is unique in that way that it is low profile. That means, in fact, it is literally 5-7 millimeters. It is like a parachute opening. It turns off the aneurysm from the bloodstream. Today the system is very flexible. It allows to penetrate through the convoluted, thin diameter vessels."

Now using this method in BSMU Clinic the doctors will operate residents from all over the country. The leading specialists of Astrakhan Cardiovascular Surgery Center came to Bashkortostan to help mastering the new technology. They already have successful experience of such operations.
