The Minister of Healthcare of the Russian Federation, Veronika Skvortsova, opened the all-Russian scientific and practical conference and 58th session of the Ministry of Healthcare of Russia "New challenges and new solutions in cardiology".
Veronika Skvortsova thanked the staff of the Cardiac center for their hard work, elaborated on achievements, prospects and problems of national cardiology, and expressed her belief that fundamental science will contribute to new breakthroughs in the treatment and prevention of diseases that will not only reduce mortality but also increase life expectancy in Russia.
Currently, the greatest attention in medicine is paid to cardiovascular diseases, which are the main cause of death all over the world. The Russian Federation has made significant progress in the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of these diseases. A significant increase in percutaneous coronary intervention in acute coronary syndrome has been achieved; new vascular centers and specialized departments are opening around the country. At the same time, cardiologists face new challenges such as the increase in the level of hypertension and a significant increase in obesity among men, a large difference in the mortality rate between men and women, as well as between the regions of the Russian Federation.
The co-chairs of the plenary meetings were the General Director of the National Medical Cardiology Research Center of Ministry of Healthcare of Russia, corresponding member of RAS, Sergey Anatolyevich Boytsov, Deputy General Surgery Director of the National Medical Cardiology Research Center of Ministry of Healthcare of Russia, academician, Renat Suleimanovich Akchurin, the General Director of V. A. Almazov National Medical Research Center, academician of RAS, Professor Evgeniy Vladimirovich Shlyakhto, head of the Cardiology department of A. I. Yevdokimov Moscow State University of Medicine and Dentistry, Professor, MD Alexander Vadimovich Shpektor.
