Deputy Director of the department of Medical education and personnel policy in healthcare, the Ministry of Healthcare of Russia, Artyom I. Tarasenko, spoke at the meeting of BSMU Academic Council

On 29 May, Deputy Director of the department of Medical education and personnel policy in healthcare, the Ministry of Healthcare of Russia, Artyom I. Tarasenko, presented the report "Education of the future through the state policy in the field of medical education" in the open-dialogue form.

- Modern higher education has its own trends and challenges that we must take into account at all levels of education. One of the indicators of sustainable development of the country is the availability of higher education. In Russia, availability is above 50%, which makes the country a "conveyor" for training, including medical personnel. However, mass education leads to the quality decrease. There are tools to solve this problem: increasing the passing grade, the formation of creative groups for growth of talented students, to create future research staff of the University. Another issue of modern medical education is globalization, which includes competition between Universities, including foreign ones, for the best students and teachers. One of the main trends of the future education is digitalization. The key task of education is the introduction of modern electronic technologies, project management and artificial intelligence in the educational process for training future medicine-genetic nutritionists, IT – geneticists, operators, managing surgical robot, - emphasized in his speech Artyom I. Tarasenko.

Furthermore, Artyom I. Tarasenko noted the tendency of losing monodisciplinary medical education that changes into multidirectional model. The role of the teacher as an exclusive information carrier is losing its importance due to the availability of information from various sources. Knowledge of foreign languages and IT is mandatory for the modern doctor. In addition, Artyom I. Tarasenko answered to the questions of the Scientific Council members.

- BSMU meets the requirements of modernity and trains the personnel that is required for our region and the country as a whole. The Russian President, Vladimir V. Putin, in May decrees set the vector of development of the main sectors of the country, including health care, for the next six years. The elimination of personnel hunger, the development of the quality of primary health care, the increase in healthy life expectancy - these are just some of the tasks that we have to solve, - said the rector of BSMU, corresponding member of RAS, Valentin N. Pavlov.
