V Interregional Neurological Forum (Russia, Great Britain, Germany, India)

   

On 24-26 May 2018 the capital of the Republic of Bashkortostan, Ufa, met the leading neurology experts of from different regions of Russia, Europe and Asia. The status state institution RB "Congress Hall" hosted the participants of the V Interregional Neurological Forum (Russia, Great Britain, Germany, and India). The fifth anniversary forum was dedicated to the 95th anniversary of the formation of the neurological service in Bashkortostan. The scientific organizer of the forum is the Bashkir Department of the all-Russian society of neurologists and its Chairman, Professor Rim V. Magzhanov, MD, head of the Neurology department with the Neurosurgery and Medical Genetics Courses at BSMU, at the opening of the Forum noted the scientific and practical value of the event and the tradition of its carrying. The words of greeting were pronounced by Julia A. Kofanova, Deputy Minister of Healthcare of the Republic of Bashkortostan, Professor Valentin N. Pavlov, regional coordinator of the project "Healthy future" of the all-Russian political party "United Russia", rector of Bashkir State Medical University, Deputy of the State Assembly of Bashkortostan, corresponding member of RAS , Salavat F. Kharasov, assistant of the head of the Republic of Bashkortostan, Damira Sh. Sabirzyanova, Chairman of the Medical Chamber of the Republic of Bashkortostan. All of them expressed their support for the forum and confirmed the need of such educational activities to improve the professional skills of doctors who will be able to apply the knowledge in their daily practice for the benefit of patients.

 

  

Technical organizer, head of the Regional public organization "Center for support of patients with Parkinson's disease and other extrapyramidal disabling diseases" of the Republic of Bashkortostan, Baitimerov Azamat Ramzovich, in his speech on behalf of the patients also spoke about the importance of such major neurologic events.

As usual, it took three days to hold the neuroforum. The first two days were devoted to modern aspects of diagnosis and treatment in various areas of neurology: neurorehabilitative, parkinsonology, cognitive impairment, dizziness and balance disorders, angioneurology, neurology, neurogenetic, sleep medicine, neurology, demyelinating diseases, functional diagnostics, pediatric neurology etc.

Twenty-nine leading experts in the field of neurology from various regions of the Russian Federation (Moscow, St. Petersburg, Ufa, Perm, Yekaterinburg, Orenburg, Chelyabinsk, Sterlitamak), mostly from the Federal neurological centers of Moscow - 11 professors took part in the plenary presentations and epileptological Plenum of the forum. Foreign centers were represented from Berlin, Oxford, Munich and Bangalore. They shared their experience of treatment and diagnosis of neurological patients with neuro forum participants.

This year, professors Suvarna Alladi (India), Derek Wade (UK), Ingo Fitze and Hans Holthausen (Germany) joined specialists from different countries who participated in previous forums (Slovenia, Norway, Kazakhstan, Belarus, Israel, Germany, Switzerland, Greece).

For the second year, our forum was held in conjunction with University readings which were held under the supervision of the Director of the Scientific and Educational Center "Pedagogy, psychology, neurology, neurorehabilitation" at BSMU, Professor of the Neurology Department with the Neurosurgery and Medical Genetics Courses, MD, Akhmadeeva Leyla Rinatovna. Thanks to the cooperation of the Forum and the Readings, it became possible for foreign experts from the UK and India to participate. Such interaction is a positive experience of scientific cooperation between two major events.

The conference "The First  Republican Epileptological Plenum" became a new scientific and practical event at the forum. The conference aroused genuine interest from the audience and gathered many leading epileptologists from Russia. In his speech Professor Hans Holthausen (Munich), MD, head of the Children's Epileptological Center Fochteroyd, member of the scientific expert Council of SchonKlinic not only emphasized the importance of the Plenum, but also answered many topical issues of doctors. Professors Mukhin Konstantin Yurievich (head of the Clinic of St. Luke Pediatric Neurology and Epilepsy Institute, Moscow) and Hans Holthausen (Munich) were presented with 9 patients with epilepsy during the master class. The neurology-epileptology of the National Joint Epileptological center of the holding "MedStandard" and other clinics will long remember the clinical analysis of these patients.

It has become a tradition to hold TVconferences with specialists from different countries. Therefore, at the anniversary Prof. Suvarna Alladi, the specialist from the Mental Health and Neurosciences Institute of Bangalore (India), at the forum made the report “Differential diagnosis of rare and common causes of cognitive impairment”. The detailed and beautifully illustrated presentation of a complex topic with good simultaneous translation impressed the audience of the forum.

The Republic of Bashkortostan was also represented at the forum. Professor Bakhtiyarova Clara Zakievna, the chief freelance specialist-expert on cerebrovascular diseases of the Ministry of Healthcare of Bashkortostan and the head of the Republican center of multiple sclerosis, presented the report "Anti-Cell therapy for various types of multiple sclerosis". New information on the menacing neurological disease was necessary for neurologists.

MD Murzabaeva Salia Sharifianovna, Professor of the Neurology Department with the Neurosurgery and Medical Genetics Courses at BSMU, made the report "Hereditary metabolic diseases in the Republic of Bashkortostan: results of screening, modern possibilities of diagnostics and treatment". The report elaborated on the evaluation of the screening programs effectiveness of heritable metabolic diseases in the Republic of Bashkortostan, the characteristic of the new methods of their diagnostics, treatment and prevention. It is extremely important to familiarize a wide audience of doctors with this information to improve specialized medical and genetic assistance to the population of Bashkortostan, especially in connection with the expanding opportunities of service as a result of the creation of an independent National medical and genetic center.

Baitimerov Azamat Ramzovich, head of the Clinical Institute of Neurology and Rehabilitation of the National Medical holding "MedStandard", was another representative of our Republic at the forum. In his reports Azamat R. Baitimerov emphasized the importance of the work of the National Joint Epileptological Center of the holding "MedStandard", which assisted over 2500 patients with epilepsy on a pro bono basis. On the example of the Clinical Institute of Neurology and Rehabilitation experience, he pointed out the importance of rehabilitation of patients after stroke and chronic neurological diseases (Parkinson's disease, etc.) and new possibilities of outpatient medical rehabilitation in these nosologies. In his report on Parkinson's disease with clinical examples of patients, the expert from Bashkortostan introduced the forum participants with new diagnostic and treatment activities presented at the “IV National Congress on Parkinson's Disease and Movement Disorders” (with international participation) in Moscow on 11-13 September 2017.

PhD Musina Gulisa Marselievna made the report "Complex treatment of children with epilepsy" and completed the reports of our region’s representatives. In the report Gulisa M. Musina presented her rich experience in the treatment of patients with epilepsy. Every neurologist no matter from what city or town he came has the opportunity to report the audience from the high rostrum of the forum. In this sense, the forum has really become a united platform for discussing problems in neurology of our Republic.

For the third time the Olympiad for young neurologists was held at the neuro forum. Taking into account the wishes of doctors this year the age limit has been increased to 35 years. Coordinator of the Olympiad, Bikbulatova Larisa Flurovna (the leading specialist of the Republican somnological center of the holding"MedStandard") and the well-known professors of the Neurology department with the Neurosurgery and Medical Genetics Courses at the University prepared interesting tasks in different areas of neurology. A highly qualified jury represented by the Chairman of the Bashkir Department of the all-Russian society of neurologists, Professor Magzhanov Rim Valeevich, assessed the level of knowledge of our young neurological hopes. Together with the financial Director of the National medical holding "MedStandard" Yakupov Arthur Kharisovich (co-organizer and sponsor of the Olympiad) they awarded certificates at 7, 5 and 3 thousand rubles to winners of the Olympiad. Other participants of the Olympiad received certificates of participation in this event and books on neurology. We hope that the awards received from the hands of Professor Magzhanov Rim Valeevich, will become for the participants even more motivation in the study of the neurological sciences.

 

The number of doctors who took part in the event confirms the importance of this neuro forum for the medical community. Therefore, during 3 days more than 502 visits were recorded at the events of the forum, 338 doctors (among them 239 neurologists) were able to listen to plenary speeches of leading experts. The majority of doctors were from Ufa (274 people). At the same time, the geography of the participants who visited the forum was as significant as last year. Thus, 13 cities and 15 districts of our Republic sent their delegates. The organizers of the forum are sure that taking into account that the event was held outside the Plan of organizational activities of the Ministry of Healthcare of Bashkortostan, the number of participants is impressive. At the same time, in order to increase the availability of the event for many specialists and, first of all, neurologists from the regions of the Republic, the adopted resolution of the Forum emphasized the need to include such a significant scientific and practical event in the Plan of organizational activities of the Ministry of Healthcare of Bashkortostan.

The following regions of Russia were among the participants of the forum: the Republic of Udmurtia, Orenburg region, Perm region, Chelyabinsk region, Moscow, St. Petersburg. In addition to neurologists, representatives of other specialties attended the forum: cardiologists, functional diagnosticians, neurosurgeons, neonatologists, pediatricians, psychiatrists, rheumatologists. This fact confirms the usefulness of the forum's reports in terms of a multidisciplinary approach.

 

The status of the forum was confirmed by awarding the certificates of the established pattern with credit units issued by the Coordination Council for the development of continuous medical and pharmaceutical education of the Ministry of Healthcare of the Russian Federation to the participants who were fully involved in its work. It is important to note that credit units are issued to the forum on a regular basis and the event was the first among neurological conferences that received credit units.

The lecturers appreciated the organization of the neuro forum and spoke about the possibility visit it again. During the negotiations with them, a number of agreements were reached in terms of neurologists training, the possibility of inviting foreign specialists to the next forum, assistance in organizing the event.

In free time out of the forum, the guests of the capital visited the National Museum of the Republic, the Park Complex "Vatan", Bashkir Opera and Ballet Theatre named after Rudolf Nuriev. On Sunday, after the end of the forum, a trip to the leading sanatorium of the Republic – the sanatorium "Yangan-Tau" was organized. The guests were introduced to the history of the region, medical equipment of the sanatorium and were very impressed with what they saw there.

Participants of the neuro forum were presented with memorable official materials, including the only one in the country, registered specialized journal "Neurological Meridian". The Bashkortostan regional Department of Russian political party "United Russia" took an active part in highlighting and supporting such a major scientific event, which was organized by the Bashkir branch of Russian society of neurology, Bashkir State Medical University, the Medical chamber of the Republic of Bashkortostan, the Regional public organization "Center for support of patients with Parkinson's disease and other extrapyramidal disabling diseases" of the Republic of Bashkortostan and the National medical holding "MedStandard".
