On 19 June 2018, BSMU Clinic held the first master class on Botulinum Therapy from the summer series

On Tuesday, 19 June 2018, the first master class on Botulinum Therapy from the summer series was held in BSMU Clinic. Doctors from BSMU Clinic, other Ufa public and private clinics, students and residents of the Neurology department with the Courses of Neurosurgery and Medical Genetics participated in it.

Professor Akhmadeeva Leila Rinatovna gave the lecture focused on two indications for botulinum toxin therapy: focal muscle dystonias and chronic migraine with the diagnostic criteria, the data of the Russian and international clinical guidelines, basic research and modern articles from foreign magazines. The methods of calculating the dose and selection of target muscles were demonstrated, including different ways of navigation-under the control of ultrasound (thanks to the doctors of ultrasound from BSMU Clinic) and electromyography.

For the first time patients from other regions of Russia began to come to participate in the master class in the Neurology, Rehabilitation Medicine and Botulinum Center of BSMU Clinic.

The work was very intensive. Drug A Onabotulinumtoxin was used for 10 patients with various diseases discussed. Four patients who received injections a month ago were also invited to demonstrate and a consultation for the patient from the Medical Rehabilitation department was held.

All participants expressed their gratitude to BSMU and the University Clinic, as well as to all who helped to hold the master class.
