For the first time in the history of BSMU the international students had practice in Sterlitamak

On 29 July the scientific and practical conference "Industrial practice of international students and young scientists" was held at the Clinical hospital №1 in Sterlitamak. The conference marked the end of practical training of BSMU international students. The practice of students for the first time took place in Sterlitamak, thanks to the active support of the city administration in the person of the head of the administration Vladimir Kulikov and chief physician of the Clinical hospital №1 Azat M. Kurbangaleev. Students took part in the work of the Regional Vascular Center, Inter-District Perinatal Center, Surgical and Therapeutic departments of the hospital. Also, the interns met with students of Sterlitamak Medical College.

The working language of the conference was English. The conference was opened by Valentin N. Pavlov, the rector of the Bashkir State Medical University, corresponding member of RAS:

- This year we are conducting the first practical training of foreign students in the second largest and the volume of medical care in the Republic – Sterlitamak. For international students it is a great opportunity to get acquainted with the device of medical institutions of the Republic, to improve their spoken Russian language, to visit different parts of Bashkortostan, - said Valentin N. Pavlov.

Azat M. Kurbangaleev, the chief doctor of the Clinical Hospital №1 of Sterlitamak welcomed the participants of the conference:

- For the hospital and our specialists, it is a unique experience to transfer the knowledge and skills to international students. Our doctors, thanks to close communication during work with students, have improved their English. We will be happy if this practice will become annual, - said Azat M. Kurbangaleev.

Vladimir Ishmetov, the Vice-rector for Educational and Social Work of BSMU, Professor, head of the Cardiovascular and X-ray surgery department in BSMU Clinic, urologist Adel Izmailov, head of the Project Management department, Ruslan Ishemgulov, head of the Course of Nuclear Medicine, associate Professor of the Urology department with the Course of IAPE, Timur Yagudin, postgraduate at the Hospital Surgery department, and Seraphima Maximova, clinical intern of the Urology department with the Course of IAPE, took part in the conference and made their reports.

The presentations on urology, cardiovascular surgery, oncology and radiation therapy were demonstrated at the conference.

- My dream is to become a cardiovascular surgeon in the future. During practice in Sterlitamak I had the unique opportunity to take part in operations for acute ischemic stroke – trombotsitopatii of the middle cerebral artery with full restoration of neurological status, - shared his impressions Yakubu Mustafa Qaima, the 3rd year student of BSMU from Nigeria.

The conference was held in the format of the open dialogue, students and doctors of Clinical Hospital №1 of Sterlitamak actively asked questions to the speakers.

- The practice was very fruitful and productive. We were able to attend a variety of operations for different diseases and improve our practical skills. The conference was informative, we learned about the latest achievements of practical medicine in the Republic of Bashkortostan and were able to get answers to questions of different profile from the specialists of our University, - said Karan Verma, the 5th year student of BSMU.
