BSMU Clinic introduced a new direction of Robotic Surgery – Gynecology

On 7 September in the framework of the XXVIII International Conference RAHR (Russian Association of Human Reproduction) "Reproductive Technology Today and Tomorrow", that was held in Ufa from 5 till 8 September 2018, BSMU Clinic held the master-class "Robot-assisted surgery in gynecology".

The master-class was conducted by Alexander Popov - MD, Professor, head of the Endoscopic Surgery department of Moscow Regional Scientific Research Institute of Obstetrics and Gynecology, and Laura Capshueva - MD, Professor of the Obstetrics and Gynecology department at N. I. Pirogov Russian National Research Medical University.

- Gynecology is one of the fastest growing areas, new technologies, such as robotic surgery, including in the regions, it is a necessary step in modern high-tech medicine, - said Professor A. Popov.

The operation was performed to a 27-year-old woman who applied to the Clinic a month ago with the insolvency of the uterine suture after cesarean section, that was held in 2016.

- Thanks to the precise work of the robot surgeon, now we have the opportunity to take the most "heavy" patients, which means their chance to recover, become mothers and endure healthy children increases much, - commented on the progress of the operation Alfiya Yaschuk, the head of the Obstetrics and Gynecology department with a course of IAPE, MD, Professor.

Since the opening of the first Robotic Surgery Center in the Volga Federal district on the basis of BSMU Clinic in February 2018, more than 100 operations in the field of urology, oncology, abdominal, vascular and thoracic surgery have been carried out. Robot-assisted surgery in the field of gynecology was held for the first time and has opened a new direction in the history of surgery in the Republic.
