On October 22-23, BSMU Clinic held a master class “Transcatheter aortic valve replacement with Medtronic CoreValve Evolve R biological prosthesis”.
The master class was held with the participation Shahram Lofti, the head of TAVI program, senior consultant of the Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery department of the University Clinical Hospital at the Rhine-Westphalian Technical University, Aachen (Germany) (RWTH Aachen University). Shahram Lofti took part in a master class at BSMU Clinic in June 2018 in the framework of the I Russian-Chinese Congress on the Treatment of Cardiovascular Diseases.
Together with the doctor from Germany, the master class was held by Prof. Vladimir Ishmetov, the head of the Cardiovascular and X-ray Surgery department of BSMU Clinic, and Rustam Abdrakhmanov, doctor of the Cardiovascular and X-ray Surgery department of BSMU Clinic.
- Heart disease among people over 65 is no longer a sentence - commented Prof. Vladimir Plechev, corresponding member of RAN of the Republic of Bashkortostan. Thanks to minimally invasive surgery, people can not just prolong life, but also improve its quality.
During the master class, three operations were performed on patients from 70 years old with aortic valve disease. Patients have a new generation aortic valve. The valve delivery device has a reduced diameter, which allows delivering the valve to the place of its installation with minimal trauma.
- There really need surgical precision. The entire operation is performed with the help of x-ray monitors, which can be seen almost every vessel. Due to a special system, the surgeon brings the aortic prosthesis to the damaged area and the valve opens, - said Vladimir Ishmetov.
