BSMU Clinic hosted the master class “Clinical approbation of surgical treatment of atrial fibrillation in the correction of valvular heart disease”

On 1-2 December 2018 BSMU Clinic hosted the master class “Clinical approbation of surgical treatment of atrial fibrillation in the correction of valvular heart disease”.

The supervisors of the master class were Professor Vladimir Ishmetov, Doctor of Medical Sciences, head of the Cardiovascular and X-ray Surgery department at BSMU Clinic, associate Professor Marat Kashaev, Arthur Yakupov and Ruslan Safin, cardiovascular surgeons of BSMU Clinic.

During the master class two patients with sclerotic combined mitral-aortic heart disease underwent surgical treatment of atrial fibrillation - performed radiofrequency ablation and prosthetics of the aortic valve, mitral valve plastic surgery in conditions of artificial blood circulation.

The proposed surgical method of treatment of atrial fibrillation in the correction of valvular heart defects retains all the principles laid down in the MAZE IV operation, but by maintaining the elements of classical techniques ("incision") allows to minimize the cost of intervention while maintaining its effectiveness.

The master class was held for cardiovascular surgeons of the Republic of Bashkortostan, students and residents.
