BSMU delegation presents Russia at the International Educational forum “Belt and Road” in the section Medicine (Chengdu, China)

From 16 till 18 December 2018, BSMU delegation took part in the International Educational forum “Belt and Road” at Sichuan University (Chengdu, China). BSMU delegation consisted of Valentin Pavlov, rector of BSMU, corresponding member of RAS, Professor Naufal Zagidullin, head of the International Relations department, Professor Mahmud Timerbulatov, head of .the Faculty Surgery department, Vyacheslav Korolev, associate Professor of the General Chemistry department, and Ruslan Abdrakhimov, assistant of the Urology department with the course of IAPE.

The Bashkir State Medical University became the only University from Russia represented at that forum in the section "Medicine". Professor Valentin Pavlov made the report at the plenary session "Cooperation between BSMU and universities of China". Professor Naufal Zagidullin presented the paper on "Academic mobility between the University and universities of China".

As part of the forum, BSMU delegation visited the Institute of Disaster Management at Sichuan University. It was decided to develop a new module in BSMU United Center of Simulation-Based Training. The organizers of the forum conducted the excursion to the laboratory of the director of the West China Hospital, Li Weimin, the telemedicine center and the research center of the West China Hospital, where more than 1.3 million samples of drugs were presented.

BSMU delegation met with the leadership of West China Hospital: Vice-President, Van Xulang, deputy director of Gastrointestinal Surgical Clinic, Wang Ziqiang, director of the Pancreas Surgery Clinic, Peng Bing, director of the Urology Clinic, Wei Qiang, head of the International Department, Zou Ling.  In 2016, Professor Peng Bing held the master class on the gastrointestinal tract cancer treatment at BSMU Clinic. At the meeting the participants discussed the results of BSMU interaction with Sichuan University and West China Hospital. We outlined the prospects for further cooperation in 2019: the summer short-term internships of BSMU clinical residents will continue, it is planned to enter the graduate school of Sichuan University for several BSMU residents. Students of Sichuan University will take part in the International Olympiad on surgery, which will be held in 2019 at BSMU.

The cooperation of the Bashkir State Medical University and Sichuan University has been lasting since 2015. According to the signed agreement on cooperation, bilateral student exchanges are carried out, joint conferences and master classes are held. Every year, ten students from BSMU participate in the academic mobility program, four clinical residents and graduate students participate in 3-6-month internships. Currently, three BSMU graduate students study at Sichuan University - Danil Galiulin, Valentin Kudryashov and Tagir Taipov. With graduate students and their research supervisors – Professor Hu Jankui and director of the Liver Surgery Clinic, Yan Jiayin held a meeting, where the participants discussed the thesis.
