BSMU hosted the International educational forum “Preparation of international students to pass the qualification exams USMLE (USA) AND FMGE (Republic of India)”

At the very beginning of the student winter vacations the Bashkir State Medical University hosted foreign guests from India in the framework of the International educational forum "Preparation of international students to pass the qualification exams USMLE (USA) and FMGE (Republic of India)" held from 1 till 3 February.

The forum was opened by Valentin Pavlov, rector of BSMU, corresponding member of RAS, wishing the forum participants successful work, stressed the importance of self-organization, and building a professional path of development as a doctor, which lasts the whole life. Valentin Pavlov paid special attention to necessity to speak foreign languages, emphasizing that today BSMU is an international University, where more than 1100 students had come from 37 countries. BSMU actively interacts with universities and clinics around the world. The University is interested in our graduates successfully confirming their professional qualifications and pleasing us with their achievements.

The invited speakers of the forum were Dr. Balala Rohitkumar, endovascular surgeon, Dr. Mohammed Khalil Ahmed, and Dr. Mohammed Naim Zafar.  

Dr Balala Rohitkumar, endovascular surgeon, graduate of BSMU. He does not forget the University and Alma mater to attract their colleagues from the countries of South-East Asia.  On his example, Dr. R. Balala knows how difficult it is to be accredited in the US and India. In this regard, he invited colleagues from India to share their experience. Dr. Mohammed Khalil Ahmed is quite well-known in India doctor of x-ray diagnostic methods and teacher of coaching courses to prepare for accreditation (University of Osmania, Hyderabad, Republic of India). Osmania University is the largest University in the Indian subcontinent and one of the oldest universities in India. It was founded in 1918, and today it is one of the leaders in its segment.

Another foreign guest was Dr. Mohammed Naim Zafar, plastic surgeon of the Thermal Trauma department at Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital (New Delhi, Republic of India).  RML hospital was founded in 1932 and today it is a large multidisciplinary medical institution with 984 beds and 46 000 hospitalizations per year.

Foreign colleagues intend to tell about the peculiarities of passing the accreditation exams USMLE (USA) and FMGE (Republic of India).

The organizers of the forum focused on the motivational component of the program, professional orientation of students and their basic skills. The participants discussed the issues of building a professional trajectory of the doctor, some differences in curricula and approaches to training in Russia and abroad.  Within the framework of the forum, master classes on surgical instruments, cardiopulmonary resuscitation and first aid were held. In addition, for students they provided entertaining competitions on knowledge of anatomy, genetics, surgery, competitions on skills of cardiopulmonary resuscitation.

The audience of the forum was not only international students, but also their Russian classmates who wished to participate in a large number of academic mobility programs implemented by BSMU.
