On Cosmonautics Day BSMU international students met with Sergey Plyukhov, Executive Director of Bashkortostan branch of the Russian Cosmonautics Federation

April 12 is a special day not only for the Russian Federation, but also for the whole world. On this day the Soviet science proved to the world that it was the first in everything. The Soviet cosmonaut was the first to fly into space. He not only made a step of great importance in Science at the international arena, but also showed ordinary people that the impossible was possible, that with the help of hard work, courage, intelligence, dedication, and anyone could reach the stars.

In honor of the Cosmonautics Day, BSMU international students took part in the conversation with the Executive Director of the Bashkortostan regional branch of the Russian Cosmonautics Federation - Sergei Plyukhov, who repeatedly participated in the launch of missiles, engaged in providing space flights, he knows all the details and nuances of life in space, which he shared with the students. It was interesting to learn how astronauts sleep and eat in space, what difficulties and obstacles exist for the flight to Mars, whether there is life outside the earth, what language cosmonauts of all countries and nationalities speak, who are on the International space station Mir (necessarily in Russian), how dangerous space debris is, what physiological and mental changes occur with a person in space and much more. But the most important thing, on Sergey Plyukhov’s opinion, people understand in space - we are all one, we are all earthlings, and our Land is very fragile and it is important we all get together and take care of it.

International students listened to the guest with great interest, asked questions and participated in the discussion. For their activity, they even received a special space treat as a gift – a tube with honey, one of those that is sent as food for astronauts, and produced in a special honey house located in our beloved Republic. Our students thank the BSMU Scientific library and the Cosmonautics Federation of Russia for such an interesting meeting and, of course, want such an event to be not the only one, and we met with a representative of such an interesting and, as it seemed before, inaccessible branch of activity once again.
