Victory Day celebration at BSMU

On 8 May BSMU held celebration of Victory Day. The event began with a rally at the second building of BSMU. Valentin Pavlov, rector of BSMU, corresponding member of RAS, opened the event. He thanked the veterans-doctors, war veterans and home front workers for their invaluable feat, selfless service to the Motherland, hourly work in the rear, courage, and valor.

Veterans, the administration of the University laid flowers at the memorial plaque with the words carved on it: "Eternal glory to the pupils of the Bashkir Medical Institute, who died in the battles for the Motherland!" and commemorated the fallen soldiers with a minute of silence. The names of those who did not return from the fronts of the Great Patriotic War are carved in solid stone. About 1305 doctors of the Bashkir ASSR went to the front, 92 medical workers and 4 teachers of the Bashkir Medical Institute gave their lives in the fight against the enemy.

The festive concert for veterans took place with the help of students of BSMU and BSMU Medical College, artists of the city.

On 9 May, together with Radiy Khabirov, acting Head of the Republic of Bashkortostan and the administrative corps of the Republic, the University administration represented by Valentin Pavlov, rector of BSMU, corresponding member of RAS, Vladimir Ishmetov,  Vice-rector for educational and social work, student activists took part in the ceremony dedicated to the 74^th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic war. On behalf of the multi-ethnic people of Bashkortostan, the head of the Republic laid a wreath at the monument to the heroes of the Soviet Union Alexander Matrosov and Minnigali Gubaidullin, at the foot of which the Eternal flame burns. After singing the anthems of the Russian Federation and the Republic of Bashkortostan, the participants of the ceremony observed a minute of silence in memory of the defenders of the Motherland who did not return from the battlefields of the Great Patriotic war.

After, Valentin Pavlov, Vladimir Ishmetov, teachers and students of BSMU, including international students, joined the Patriotic action "Immortal regiment", which was attended by more than 420 thousand residents of the Republic.

V., Tikhonov M. N., officers of the Afghan war: Kulikov A. A., Faskhutdinov S. F., the participants of combat operations in "hot spots": Minniakhmetov R. Y., Teperik A. V., reserve officers of the Military department, veterans of labour, children of war, expressing gratitude to Valentin Pavlov, rector of the Bashkir State Medical University, corresponding member of RAS, for attention, care, which is annually given to veterans of BSMU.
