BSMU professor Oleg V. Galimov took part in the V International Medical Forum “SCO Medicine Road” Qingdao 2019 (China)

On 20-22 September, Professor Oleg V. Galimov, head of the Surgical Diseases and New Technologies department of BSMU, took part in the V International Medical Forum “Medicine SCO Road” 2019 Qingdao (China).

It should be mentioned, that Qingdao with a population of about 7 million people is located in the Eastern China in Shandong province at the Yellow Sea. The city is considered the industrial center, and one of ten world ports in terms of trade.

On 21 September Professor Oleg V. Galimov met with Ph.D., M. D. Shiying Xuan, President of Qingdao Municipal Hospital. President Shiying Xuan, Chairman of the International Medical Forum “Medicine SCO Road” Qingdao 2019, spoke about the work of the biggest multidisciplinary modern hospital in Qingdao. The key to the successful functioning of the clinic and one of its main priorities President Xuan sees in the development of international cooperation and study of foreign experience. Many employees of the clinic were trained in America and Europe. Chinese colleagues are aware of the success of Russian doctors, in particular the Ufa Urology School of Professor Valentin N. Pavlov, corresponding member of RAS. Moreover, they are quite interested in establishing and developing scientific and business contacts with Bashkir State Medical University.

Ph. D., M. D. Mao Weizheng, head of the General Surgery department, and Dr. Zhou Shaofei acquainted the participants with the main results of the surgical service of the clinic. They demonstrated equipment and operating. There was a round table with surgeons and residents to discuss topical issues of Abdominal Surgery and Oncology.

On September 22, the opening ceremony of the conference “SCO Medicine Road” Qingdao 2019 took place. Party leaders and provincial leaders, as well as leading scientists and healthcare organizers spoke at the ceremony.

Professor Oleg V.  Galimov opened the scientific part by his report “Features of surgical treatment and postoperative rehabilitation in patients with overweight and obesity”, generalizing the experience of BSMU Clinic and results of surgical treatment of patients with abdominal pathology on the background of existing overweight and obesity. The report aroused great interest. At the request of hosts, Professor Oleg V. Galimov gave the interview to local television.

The following prominent speakers presented their reports: Professor Robert Lodato (USA) spoke about the peculiarities of treatment of septic conditions, Per Tidehag (Sweden) told about the prospects of training of modern dentists, Cathie Abrahamsen (Norway) shared the experience of postoperative rehabilitation and nursing care for patients. Huaxiang Xia (Australia) spoke about modern biotechnological developments in Oncology.

At the discussion, all speakers and participants of the conference agreed that professional and scientific contacts and exchanges of views are aimed at improving the results of the work of medical organizations for the treatment of patients.
