Eurasian Congress on Antimicrobial Therapy and Clinical Microbiology has started

On October 17-18 2019, Eurasian Congress on Antimicrobial Therapy and Clinical Microbiology is held in Congress Hall "Toratau".

The Congress is organized Bashkir State Medical University, Interregional Association for Clinical Microbiology and Antimicrobial Chemotherapy, European Society for Clinical Microbiology and Infectious Diseases, International Society for Antimicrobial Chemotherapy, Volga-Yangtze Association of Universities, Russian-Chinese Association of Medical Universities, Ministry of Healthcare of Bashkortostan, Jilin University, Abu Ali Ibn Sino Bukhara State Medical Institute, Research Institute of Antimicrobial Chemotherapy, Smolensk State Medical University.

Lenara Ivanova, acting Deputy Prime Minister of Bashkortostan, opened the Congress. In her speech, Lenara Ivanova thanked the participants and organizers of the Congress and noted that the leadership of the Republic paid great attention to the development of healthcare.

The geography of the Congress is represented by more than 1000 participants from such countries as Russia, China, Great Britain, Spain, CIS countries. Among them there are leaders in the field of Antimicrobial Therapy and Clinical Microbiology from around the world: Professor Li Fan, President of the Scientific Center of Health (China), Wang Fang, Vice-rector of Jilin University, Professor Wang Guoqing from Jilin University, Peng Yihong and Liu Xiaoyun, Professors of the Scientific Center of Health of Peking University, Professor Mackintosh David (UK), honorary chief lecturer of Imperial College of London, Roman Kozlov, rector of Smolensk State Medical University, corresponding member of RAS.

Valentin Pavlov, rector of Bashkir State Medical University, corresponding member of RAS, welcomed the participants:

 - The Congress brought together the leading domestic and world experts in the field of Clinical Microbiology, Antimicrobial Therapy, Infectious Diseases, and the Congress solves an important task for our University and the region - it is cooperation with leading scientific centers throughout the Eurasian space. Bashkortostan is developing an import substitution program, and our University is actively implementing this program in the field of healthcare. Within the framework of the created Scientific and educational center, special attention is paid to the issues of Biotechnology and Microbiology, and University scientists in collaboration with enterprises of the Republic are working in this direction. Modern science is increasingly focused on people, on the preservation of health, the development of technologies for healthy old age and longevity, as well as the role of the microbiome in these processes: all these issues will be considered at the Congress, - said Valentin Pavlov.

At the opening ceremony, Valentin Pavlov awarded the title of "Honorary Professor of BSMU" to Professor Li Fan, the President of the Norman Buten Scientific Center of Health of Jilin University, (China).

- The main purpose of my visit is to expand the areas of cooperation between our University and BSMU on Microbiology and antimicrobial therapy and the creation of joint research projects. Due to the geographical location of Russia and China and the close border between the countries, there are many diseases with the same pathophysiology and with the help of joint projects, we plan to find common modern approaches for their diagnosis and treatment, - said Professor Li Fan.

The cooperation agreement with Jilin University was signed in 2016. Within the framework of the agreement, mutual exchanges of students, teachers and doctors are carried out within the framework of the academic mobility program, joint congresses, seminars, study cases are held.

Roman Kozlov, chief freelance specialist of the Ministry of Healthcare of the Russian Federation on Clinical Microbiology and Antimicrobial Resistance, the President of the Interregional Association on Microbiology and Antimicrobial Chemotherapy, rector of Smolensk State Medical University, corresponding member of RAS, addressed to the Congress participants:

- The Eurasian Congress on Antimicrobial therapy is held for the first time and it is a unique opportunity to exchange the experience between countries and scientific institutions. The problem of antimicrobial resistance annually claims more than 800 thousand lives worldwide. Moreover, this problem, that has no boundaries, is multidisciplinary in nature, so the materials of the Congress will be of interest to doctors of various specialties, - summed up Roman Kozlov.

On the first day of the Congress there are sections: "Problem bacteria: what to do? ", "Infections in Obstetrics and Perinatology", "Modern research in clinical Microbiology", "Problems of therapy of bacterial and parasitic infection". Within the framework of the Congress, a meeting of the profile Commission on Antimicrobials is held.

The second day of the Congress will be devoted to infections in therapeutic practice, new opportunities for treatment of viral infections, topical issues of infectious diseases of children and women, analysis of complex clinical cases.
