On February 18, BSMU hosted the internal stage of the all-Russian Olympiad I am a Professional. For the third year, the University acts as the base University for the Olympiad. Traditionally, BSMU has become the center of the internal stage for students of medical universities from Yekaterinburg, Samara, Saratov, Tyumen, St. Petersburg, Chelyabinsk and Ufa.
Valentin Pavlov, rector of BSMU, corresponding member of RAS, opened the Olympiad. Later, Valentin Pavlov speech went live to the participants from the operating room, where Professor operated on the nephrectomy with thrombectomy:
- For the third year, BSMU is one of the main universities of the Olympiad, and we are happy to welcome students from different cities of Russia to our University. We hope that the participants will soon surpass us in their professionalism. The Russian medical education provides all the opportunities to achieve this goal. One of them is the I am a Professional Olympiad, " – said Prof. Valentin Pavlov.
The Olympiad was held in three directions.
Ninety-two students, 63 of which were from BSMU, took part in the direction Medical Care, Pediatrics. The Chairman of the jury was Andrey Evsyukov, the chief doctor of Republican Clinical Hospital #2.
The internal stage consisted of 4 consecutive stations:
Twenty students participated in the direction Dentistry. Professor Vitaly Viktorov, Vice-rector for regional health development, Professor Milyausha Kabirova, Dean of the faculty of Dentistry, Chairman of the jury, Sofia Kashina, head of the Medical department at the Dental clinic #4 in Ufa, welcomed the participants and wished them success.
The internal stage consisted of the following stages:
Seven students participated in the direction Pharmacy.
Alexander Tsyglin, Vice-rector for academic affairs, and Natalia Kudashkina, acting Dean of the faculty of Pharmacy, made the welcoming speech.
Each participant successfully passes five stations:
The work of students was evaluated by experts, among which there were chief doctors and heads of departments of city clinics. Simultaneously, video and audio recordings were made, and all materials would be sent to the Central headquarters in Moscow, where the winners would be determined. Medalists, winners and prize-winners of the Olympiad will be awarded with medals, cash prizes and will receive benefits for admission to residency and postgraduate studies. The winners will be invited to internships in major Russian clinics and research centers. Their data will be placed in the national database I am a Professional. It should be reminded, that it is the register of students available to HR specialists and recruiters of leading companies in the country.
- Participation in the Olympiad for me is a test of knowledge, practical skills and one of the stages in preparation to pass the primary accreditation. I was preparing to the Olympiad on the basis of the Orenburg State University, and since the simulation centers of our universities are similar, I am comfortable to pass the internal stage on the basis of the Bashkir State Medical University, - shared Matveeva Ekaterina, a 5th-year student, a participant of the Olympiad from Orenburg.
