According to the letter of the Minister of healthcare of the Russian Federation №16-0/ I/2-3310 dated 20.03.2020 by M. A. Murashko, Bashkir State Medical University has been operating the headquarters Medical Volunteers for Elderly and Disabled Citizens since March 21, 2020.
More than two thousand students of Bashkir State Medical University have become active participants in the movement to combat the COVID-19 new coronavirus infection.
International students of Bashkir State Medical University also take active part in volunteer movement. Students from India and Tajikistan participate in the purchase and delivery of food, goods and medicine to elderly and disabled people of Ufa.
Students from African countries work as medical volunteers who are assigned to keep remembering for hand hygiene and proper protection at the entrance of medical institutions and hostels. They conduct remote thermometry and antiseptic treatment of hands of all visitors.
BSMU international students-volunteers help other students within the hostels to get medication and stuffs in case if they are sick. Moreover, international students-volunteers give first aid to students in the hostels if there is emergency need.
In addition it should be mentioned about the group of international students volunteers who help in distance education.
