Russian-German online conference of anesthesiologists and resuscitators on Coronavirus Infection

On May 15, 2020, the scientific and practical online conference Coronavirus infection. Experience of anesthesiologists-resuscitators in the treatment of COVID-19 was held.

The leading specialists in Intensive Care of the University of Regensburg, the University of Heidelberg, and Bashkir State Medical University attended the conference.

- The coronavirus pandemic remains a challenge for healthcare systems in all countries. To unite the knowledge and efforts of medical professionals around the world, we hold online conferences on the exchange of experience on COVID-19. Here experts from different countries share their experience in fighting the pandemic, - said Valentin Pavlov, rector of BSMU, corresponding member of RAS, – This is the second time we are holding discussions with our German colleagues and we are holding them on a regular basis by unanimous decision.

Professor Michael Pavlik, the University of Regensburg, shared his experience in treating oxygen-dependent patients and spoke about the specifics of the German hospital COVID-19, where he heads the Department of intensive care and anesthesiology.

Professor Manfred Thiel, head of the Department of Anesthesiology and Intensive Care at the Mannheim University hospital of the University of Heidelberg, outlined the experience of his colleagues in intensive care.

Twenty groups joined the Conference call with up to ten people in each group. The doctors of the COVID-19 hospital at BSMU Clinic, who are on duty now and those who have worked their shift and are on self-isolation, also participated in the conference.

- For us, anesthesiologists, it is important to communicate and share our experience, especially when working with a new coronavirus infection, - said Nikita Zdorik, an anesthesiologist and resuscitator, who is now on the shift in the hospital of BSMU Clinic. – We work with serious patients who cannot breathe on their own; patients are connected to artificial ventilation devices.
