Mikhail Murashko and Radiy Khabirov met with BSMU medical volunteers

On May 30, Mikhail Murashko, Minister of healthcare of the Russian Federation, and Radiy Khabirov, Head of Bashkortostan, visited the volunteer center of the Bashkir State Medical University as part of the Minister's visit to Ufa.

The headquarters of medical volunteers at Bashkir State Medical University for the fight against coronavirus infection was opened on March 21. During their work, the volunteers helped more than 3000 senior citizens of Ufa, and on Victory Day they congratulated more than 1000 veterans. The headquarters employs more than 600 volunteers from among the students of BSMU. “Well done, guys! Thank you very much – said the head of the Ministry of health of Russia. – For people, especially the elderly, this period was very stressful, and your help means a lot.”

Mikhail Murashko and Radiy Khabirov held the online conference with medical volunteers working in COVID hospitals and discussed issues of concern to the children. For example, fifth-year students working in the "red zone" of an Infectious Disease Hospital asked when a vaccine for the new coronavirus would be available in Russia and how it would be distributed. According to Mikhail Murashko’s words, clinical trials of the vaccines will begin in the coming weeks. He expressed hope that the country would receive the vaccine by the end of the summer.

At the end of the meeting, students presented Mikhail Murashko and Radiy Khabirov with uniform vests of the BSMU volunteer center.
