International students visit the Victory Park

The most important event of 2020 year is the 75th anniversary of the Great Victory of the Soviet people’s Victory over Nazi Germany in the Great Patriotic war of 1941-1945. As it already has become a tradition, BSMU international students visited the Victory Park. On 22 June Mary Petrosyan, vice dean of the Dean’s office for international students, headed the group of the international students to visit the park. This date was chosen as exactly at that day 79 years ago the Great Patriotic war had started.

The students laid flowers at the memorial and honored the victims with a minute of silence. They were impressed by the exhibits presented in the Park. Tanks were of particular interest.

It should be reminded, that at the territory of the Victory Park there is the Republican Museum of Military Glory. Unfortunately, this year the students did manage to visit it because of the virus. The Republican Museum of Military Glory was built in honor of the 55th anniversary of the Soviet people’s Victory over Nazi Germany in the Great Patriotic war of 1941-1945 by Decree of the President of the Republic of Bashkortostan and by the Republican Veterans Council’s decision. The Museum covers such topics as the rear during the World War II and the front line. The first floor of the Museum hosts the exhibition of the Rear during the war. There visitors learn about how citizens of the Soviet Union helped the front, how children and women stood at the machines for 20 hours to provide soldiers with the necessary weapons, how villagers prepared food supplies for soldiers, how the oil and aviation industry developed in the region. On the second floor of the Museum one can get acquainted with the history of the main battlefields and heroes of the battles that changed the course of the war.

Events dedicated to the Victory Day always make us think about how terrible and painful it is, make us stop and thank all those who fell in battle, for the peaceful sky above our heads and peaceful life. In memory of those who laid down their lives, it is necessary to tell about the war, retell the stories of our grandparents, and celebrate Victory Day.
