BSMU is included in the Moscow international ranking of universities "The Three University Missions" (MosIUR), 2020

According to the results of the Moscow international University ranking The Three University Missions, 2020, Bashkir State Medical University of the Ministry of healthcare of the Russian Federation entered the interval group 1001-1100 in the world ranking and the interval group 42-47 among Russian universities. BSMU ranks 9th among medical universities. Among the universities of the Republic of Bashkortostan BSMU takes the first place. It is followed by Ufa State Oil Technical University (interval group 1201-1300) and Bashkir State University (1301-1400).

The Three University Missions ranking in 2020 became the most representative in the world – for the first time, the number of universities in the published list reached 1500 universities. The 2020 ranking includes universities from 97 countries, including 101 Russian universities.

The formation of The Three University Missions ranking was initiated by the Russian Union of rectors in accordance with the instructions of the President of Russia V. V. Putin. The ranking operator is the Association of the rankings and other performance evaluations compilers (ASR), whose members are the leading ranking and research centers.

The Moscow International University ranking is a fundamentally new academic ranking that for the first time evaluates all three key missions of the University: education, science and interaction with society.

The initiative to create the rating is supported by leading universities in Russia, China, India, Iran, Turkey, and Japan. The ranking methodology was widely discussed in Russia and abroad, with more than 100 universities participating. The ranking expert Council consists of 25 experts from 16 countries.

This is the first global ranking that examines the University's third mission. Thanks to its fundamental novelty, MosIUR was highly evaluated by experts. Luis Claudio Costa, President of the International Association of compilers and consumers of educational rankings IREG Observatory said: "The Moscow ranking opens the new, i.e. the second, generation of academic rankings."

The ranking was based solely on objective criteria approved by international experts; reputation surveys are completely excluded. At the same time, the range of sources of information for the ranking is much wider than those, which are traditionally used in existing popular rankings. The sources of information are open data from official websites of universities and national authorities, as well as data from independent international sources: Clarivate Analytics (provider of data and metrics from InCites and the Global Institutional Profiles Project (GIPP)); online platform for mass education Coursera and edX; public multilingual universal encyclopedia "Wikipedia"; search engines Google, Yandex, Baidu; social networking Facebook, Twitter, VK, Sina Weibo; the Alexa company, one of the world leaders in the field of web Analytics; websites of international students Olympiads; web sites of scientific prizes from the list IREG List of International Academic Awards.
