Head of the Republic of Bashkortostan held the meeting on the world-class Eurasian research and educational center’s development

On December 9, Head of Bashkortostan Radiy Khabirov held the meeting in the House of Republic with rectors of Ufa universities and heads of research organizations on the development of the world-class Eurasian scientific and educational center (REC).

It should be reminded, that on December 3, Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin signed the order on the results of research and educational centers’ competitive selection that will receive Federal support. One of them is in Ufa.  -This is a huge victory for our Republic,"- Radiy Khabirov said. – Previously the region did not have such success: neither a Federal University nor a national research University was created. Although the level of science in Bashkortostan is very high. Now, together, we have filled this gap. In the face of fierce competition with other regions, we have successfully solved this global task. The world-class Eurasian REC will become an integrator of science, production and business. By 2024, it should give the first practical results.

Alexander Sidyakin, Head of the administration of Head of Bashkortostan, curator of the project to create the Eurasian REC, noted that under the new conditions, interregional research and educational centers must prove their worth every two years.

-By the end of 2021, we have to conduct a number of research and development works, obtain more than 440 patents for inventions, and publish 1667 thesis, – Alexander Sidyakin outlined the next guidelines. - And here the creation of an inter-University campus in Ufa will give a powerful synergistic impetus to all processes.

The world-class Eurasian research center will develop 10 technological projects that will include 95 advanced scientific technologies in the areas of New living environment, Digital and green chemistry, energy, Biomedicine and genetics, Engineering and advanced production technologies by 2025.

Alexander Kuleshov, rector of the SKOLKOVO Institute of science and technology, congratulated the Republic on winning the competition and offered to support Skoltech in implementing its tasks.

– We are ready to allocate quotas to students and graduates of Bashkir universities for advanced training, send our professors to Bashkortostan to exchange experience, and host your higher school teachers, - said Alexander Kuleshov. – We are very interested in the Ufa scientific and industrial hub, which now needs new breakthrough technologies.

Radiy Khabirov instructed the Ministry of education and science of the Republic in cooperation with University rectors to prepare quotas for teaching exchanges with Skoltech.

Oleg Baulin, rector of Ufa State Petroleum Technical University, told about results of work of the Republican scientific-educational center, established a year and a half ago. Due to this USPTU entered the top 30 universities of the country, which enabled to deepen cooperation with petrochemical companies "SIBUR", "LUKOIL", to start practical cooperation with leading technology universities of Russia.

USPTU within the REC is aimed at creating an electric aircraft and implementing projects with hypersound and radiophotonics, which will replace semiconductor technologies. These plans, according to Sergey Novikov, rector of Ufa State Aviation Technical University, are already integrated with the country's industry universities and leading scientific and industrial corporations.

In 2020, BSMU and USPTU created a joint scientific department of Biomedical Engineering, which is engaged in the creation of bionic devices for regenerative medicine. Valentin Pavlov, BSMU rector, said that by 2030, the University will be able to finally close the shortage of medical personnel in the Republic and at the same time ensured the export of Bashkir medicine by attracting more international students. In 10 years, one in three medical students will be from abroad.

Vadim Zakharov, Chairman of Ufa Federal Research Center of the Russian Academy of Sciences, spoke about the project to create lithium-sulfur batteries, which were being developed jointly with USATU. The foundation for advanced research is examining this project, which can be implemented in the Ufa electric plane.

– Ufa rectors of universities, scientists of the Academy of Sciences of Bashkortostan and the Ufa centre of RAS were more likely to meet, chat, find new points of contact in the development and practical realization of scientific thought. This is a very important moment in the work of our Eurasian REC, " - Radiy Khabirov summed up.
