It is no secret that the holidays are great time for active recreation. Development of students at this moment does not stop, but only increases, only in other forms and directions. That is why, at the initiative of BSMU rector Valentin N. Pavlov, the University has launched the program Useful Holidays. In the framework of the Useful Holidays additional educational events, cultural and educational, sports and leisure activities are provided for our international students during the winter holidays. The program of the Useful Holidays included the educational school Path to Surgery and educational cycles to prepare for accreditation.
During the holidays, our students visited the Bashkir State Art Museum named after M. V. Nesterov. The tour was very exciting for international students. They saw great Russian artists’ paintings and sculptures of modern authors, porcelain from the times of Peter the Great and Catherine the Great. The students learned that I.K. Aivazovsky, who is called "the artist of the sea", called himself "the artist of the sky". They also learned that Mikhail Nesterov, being the son of a merchant who traded in Gostiny Dvor, became an artist only because of his dislike of mathematics, and his masterpiece canvas "Vision of the boy Bartholomew" got into Ufa museum thanks to a happy accident – the artist just tore it, unexpectedly falling on the picture while working, and P.M. Tretyakov did not accept the canvas in his gallery. More than three hours of the most fascinating excursion flew by for our students like a flash, many of them were in the art gallery for the first time and felt the aesthetic pleasure that one experiences when visiting such beautiful museums. We are glad that Russia has become a country for our international students, which has opened up not only education, medicine and science, but also art, painting, and literature.
