St. Petersburg chief oncologist held the study case at BSMU Clinic

On February 26, the study case New technologies in robot-assisted abdominal surgery was held in the Clinic of Bashkir State Medical University. Dmitry V. Gladyshev, MD, chief oncologist of the St. Petersburg Health Committee, Deputy Chief Physician for Surgery of the St. Petersburg City Hospital #40, performed two demonstrative operations. During the study case, two operations were performed: Robot-assisted gastric resection, Robot-assisted hemicolectomy. The operations were performed using ICG diagnostics on the Da Vinci robot. During the operation, the patient was injected with a fluorescent contrast agent (ICG), thanks to which the operating surgeon more accurately determines the anatomy of the organs and the areas on which the operation is performed.

- This method allows to determine the volume of resection, thereby performing an organ-preserving operation, - said Professor Gladyshev.

The technique is safe, easy to use and ergonomic, which allows to call it the gold standard in oncology and surgery.

Senior students of BSMU, residents, surgeons, oncologists, proctologists of the Republic, observed the course of the study case. The broadcast was on the Internet.

At the same time, Republican Clinical Oncology Dispensary hosted the online conference The Future of Oncology: personnel decide everything. It was held jointly with the School of Practical Oncology named after Pavlenko. During the conference, personnel issues, simulation training, and research in the field of oncology were discussed.
