The IX All-Russian Scientific and Practical Ophthalmological Conference “EYE-2021” was held

On April 22, the IX All-Russian Scientific and Practical Ophthalmological Conference EYE-2021 was held. The conference was dedicated to the 60th anniversary of the Faculty of Pediatrics and the 85th anniversary of BSMU Department of Ophthalmology.

The conference was held online and gathered more than two hundred participants on one site. The participants of the conference became young scientists from Russia, Germany and the CIS countries, as well as experienced ophthalmologists-experts from Moscow, St. Petersburg, Kazan, Chelyabinsk, Samara, Volgograd, Orenburg and Ufa, guests from China and ophthalmologists- practitioners from healthcare institutions of the Republic of Bashkortostan.

The conference was opened by the report On the 60th anniversary of BSMU Faculty of Pediatrics by Professor I. F. Sufiyarov, Dean of the Faculty of Pediatrics, MD. Then T. R. Mukhamadeev, the acting head of the Department of Ophthalmology, MD, told about the 85-year history of the Department of Ophthalmology with the course of IAPE at BSMU. The report Ufa GKB №10 of: yesterday, today and tomorrow was represented by Associate Professor A. U. Kinyabulatov, the Department of Public Health and Health Organization with the course of IAPE at BSMU, Candidate of Medical Sciences.

Within the framework of the discussion club, young scientists were able to share the results of their scientific research and discuss modern experimental and clinical aspects of ophthalmology.

A distinctive feature of this year's conference was a series of interactive case studies with a demonstration. Associate Professor E. A. Latypova, the Department of Ophthalmology with the course of IAPE, PhD, presented a detailed analysis of bilateral generalized uveitis in Vogt-Koyanagi-Harada syndrome, and Associate Professor A. Sh. Zagidullina, head of the course of IAPE of the Department of Ophthalmology, PhD, revealed the details of the diagnosis and treatment of acanthamoebic keratitis complicated by bacterial infection. The series of case studies was completed with a demonstration of femtolaser cataract extraction with navigation support and implantation of a toric IOL from M. A. Gizatullina, the chief physician of the OPTIMED Laser Vision Restoration Center, PhD.

The scientific and educational block of the EYE-2021 conference was presented by a wide variety of reports of invited lecturers-experts and senior colleagues. The participants of the conference were particularly interested in reports on modern aspects of primary surgical treatment of wounds of the appendage of the eye (MD I. A. Filatova, Head of the Department of Plastic Surgery and Eye Prosthetics, Professor of the Department of Continuing Medical Education of the Helmholtz National Research Medical Center for Eye Diseases of the Ministry of Healthcare of the Russian Federation, Moscow), Peripheral Vitreochorioretinal Dystrophy and Tactics of their Treatment (I.A. Gndoyan, MD, Head of the Department of Ophthalmology of the Volgograd State Medical University of the Ministry of Healthcare of the Russian Federation (Volgograd), 4D imaging in surgery of ERM with preservation of the vitreous body (Ya. V. Bayborodov, PhD, ophthalmic surgeon, Head of the Surgical Department of the St. Petersburg branch of the Academician S. N. Fedorov Eye Microsurgery of the Ministry of Healthcare of the Russian Federation, St. Petersburg), microinvasive ultrasound vitrectomy (T. I. Dibaev, PhD, Associate Professor of the Department of Ophthalmology with the course of IAPE at BSMU).

The main purpose of the conference is to establish strong professional ties between students and young scientists from Russia and neighboring countries who have chosen ophthalmology as their main specialty, for further cooperation in the development of this field of medicine.
