Unique surgery / removal of intestinal tumor and liver metastases

Surgeons of the BSMU clinic together with a colleague from Moscow performed an operation to remove liver metastases using the latest technology for the first time in the republic. It was possible to recognize metastases with the help of indocyanine green, a dye that was injected into the patient two days before surgery. Thanks to this substance, even secondary tumors of insignificant size become noticeable on the screen. The operation was performed using the Da Vinci Xi robotic system in order to remove metastases as accurately as possible and not to hurt healthy tissues. Artur Ibatullin, surgeon, professor of the Department of BSMU, head of the Center for Coloproctology: “The first stage was chemoradiotherapy for the patient, the second stage, in the conditions of the BSMU clinic, a hybrid flat-detector CT was performed, after that the patient was already prepared for surgical treatment – the main stage.” Ponomarenko Alexey Alekseevich - surgeon, leading researcher of the National Medical Research Center of Coloproctology named after A. N. Ryzhikh, Doctor of Medical Sciences: “This is a new technology, an absolutely new robot that allows you to perform complex interventions. We can superimpose a picture of the glow of metastasis online, determine the boundaries. And at the same time, the robot allows you to perform clinical interventions in a pretentious manner.”
