Obstetric science does not stand still, with the direct participation of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, innovative methods and techniques of surgical care in obstetrics and gynecology are being introduced into the work of the Clinic's departments.
On May 18, 2023, a pregnant woman with abnormal placental attachment (placenta accretion) was delivered at the maternity department of the BSMU Clinic at full-term pregnancy. An organ-preserving operation was performed using an exomicroscope. ORBEYE technology combines the advantages of simultaneous 3D and 4K imaging quality, which increases the accuracy of surgical intervention due to the volume image of ultra-high resolution, gives an ultra-clear picture of the structure of tissues and blood vessels of the uterus during placenta ingrowth. The use of an exomicroscope helps to avoid additional blood loss, reduce the traumatic nature of the operation and improves the quality of medical care for this pathology.
This technology was previously used in neurosurgery, the specialists of the BSMU Clinic were the first in the world to apply it in obstetric and gynecological practice.
