The University Hospital performed surgeries with a broadcast at the 43rd Congress of the Société Internationale d'Urologie in Istanbul

From October 11 to October 14, 2023 the delegation of BSMU consisting of deputy director on educational work of the Institute of Urology and Clinical Oncology, associate professor Linat Kutliarov, head of the International Department Ruslan Abdrakhimov, resident of the Department of Urology Sabir Sabirzyanov, student of the 5th year of pediatric faculty Ekaterina Nadezhdina participates in the 43rd Congress of the Société Internationale d'Urologie, which is held in Istanbul, Turkey.

The event is held at the Lütfi Kirdar International Istanbul Exhibition and Convention Center. The congress is attended by scientists, urologists, gynecologists, oncologists from 24 countries, totaling more than 3500 participants. The congress program is represented by various sections from robotic surgery to education.

Thus, on October 11, a joint session of the Société Internationale d'Urologie and the Russian Society of Urologists was held, where urologists from Russia shared their own achievements in the field of oncourology and urolithiasis with foreign colleagues.

On the second day, October 12, the first day of Live surgery was held in Anadolu Hall of the congress center. Our University Clinic was one of 16 connection points from countries around the world, such as India, Turkey, China, Nepal, UK, Germany, Italy, Austria, USA, Tunisia, Spain, Netherlands, Canada, South Africa, South Korea.

More than 700 people watched the broadcast in the hall, the Internet audience amounted to more than 15000 people. A master class on robotic operations was held as part of the congress.

The first robot-assisted resection of the right kidney was performed by Mikhail Mosoyan, Head of the Center for Robotic Surgery, Head of the Department of Urology with a course of robotic surgery of the Medical Faculty of the Institute of Medical Education of the Almazov Center (St. Petersburg), Professor of the Department of Urology of Pavlov State Medical University. The next operation - robotic ureteroplasty performed by Valentin Nikolayevich Pavlov - Rector of BSMU, Head of the Department of Urology, Director of the Institute of Urology and Clinical Oncology, Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Doctor of Medical Sciences, Professor.

The moderators in the section where Russian surgeons operated were:

Markos Karavitakis- Director and Head of Laparoscopic Department, Central Urology, Center for Advanced Laparoscopic and Endoscopic Urological Surgery, Lefkos Stavros, Athens Clinic, Greece;

Oktay Akca- Kartal University of Medical Sciences City Hospital, Associate Professor of Urology and Head of Clinical Urology (Istanbul);

Dr. Jihad Kauk- Professor of Surgery, Cleveland Clinic, Lerner College of Medicine, Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland.

- In the operations being conducted today, within the framework of the congress, we teach not only our own physicians, we teach on our experience and our technologies, the doctors of the world. In modern conditions, it is important that Russian doctors revive the forgotten movement of "doctors for peace". Peaceful technologies make it possible to save a person's life in Ufa and at the same time contribute to sharing experience with doctors from all over the world.

We are still the only robotic surgery center in the Volga Federal District. Today, more than a thousand patients are being treated with the help of advanced surgical technologies. More than five thousand foreign students who study at the university receive knowledge based on the most advanced medical technologies. Our students, as part of the Priority 2030 program and projects of the world-class Eurasian Research and Education Center, have the opportunity to participate in advanced research, to be on the frontier of medical science. I am sure that in the near future, we will operate on Russian robotic systems," said Valentin Pavlov, Rector of the University.
